We have had great service from our KitcheAid dishwashers. Amazing how long they lasted.

That’s important to me also. My house has a long hallway (noise corridor I like to call it) that runs the length of the house. I’ll never buy a house like that again but this is the only house I’ve ever owned. Not that it relates to my dishwasher issue but I’ll never own a house on a slab again either.

So far the Mrs. Is interested in either Bosch or possibly a Kitchen Aid. So thanks for the nod to that beancooker. I thought she would absolutely balk because Bosch doesn’t use a heater but I think she’s read enough reviews that she’s not too worried. Obviously price scares her off but I’m willing to throw my play money to get the best features she wants. Not that dishwashers are hard to service but while I sit at home with a torn rotator cuff, it makes you realize how much less you want to be dealing with installs/repairs. The 500 series Bosch automatically opens the door when done to help get the steam out. I’ll fork up the money for useful features.

I do have another question. When I get around to replacing kitchen cabinets, I may move the dishwasher to the other side of the sink. The slab precludes any other place. Are the Bosch and Kitchen Aid washers universal to which side the power cord, drain tube, and water inlet hook up?

I have a Bosch now, made in the U.S. (N.C.) and it works fine, it came with the house, but in our first house back in the 90s, we bought a Bosch that was made in Germany and that was an excellent dishwasher. But the best washer we ever had was a Miele we bought in 2005 and by the time we moved in 2017, it was flawless, no issues. Our current washer works just fine, but if it ever needs replacing, we would go back to Miele.

I’ve had both Bosch and Kitchenaid.

Our current Kitchenaid is whisper quiet, cleans as well as the former Bosch, and has a third rack at the top that has been a great feature.

It also has a solid pull handle to open it. The Bosch was a smooth front but the part where you grabbed it to open failed after a few years. It would still function, but you had to grasp both sides of the door to open it.

The Kitchenaid was pricy, though. When I saw the price tag I recoiled in horror.

But it’s been the best I’ve owned.

Some models do, some don't. They talk about their "Crystal Dry" heated-dry tech here.

Our Bosch is older, with traditional electrical heating, but this sounds kind of cool. Not sure the advantage vs. electrical - hopefully better/cheaper to run/more reliable.

+1 on KitchenAid

They were bought by Whirlpool but are the top of the line, which includes Maytag too.

Before you buy a Bosh check to see if anyone will service them. We found out that finding someone to service one was actually a big problem in our area. Of course, you may never need service but it’s a consideration.

Amana, Roper, Maytag, Kitchen Aid, and Jenn-Air are all owned by Whirlpool. And they are made in Ohio.

Lower budget Kitchenaid.

We have had two for several decades, with no problems. One died, and we upgraded one when we went to stainless steel front.

Higher budget bosh or Miele dishwashers.

I have had Miele for 3 years now, no problems.

You need to check the front to tell if it is running; it is so quiet.

I didn't want to buy a GE, but it was exactly what I needed and wanted, so I pulled the trigger. That was 3 years ago, and so far it has been excellent!!

They work very well, and are so quiet we put a magnetic clean/dirty sign on them because even I was opening it while it was running. No brand has ever worked as well as the Miele.

I really like the feature where the door opens an inch for the final few minutes of the dry cycle. Idk if every Miele model does this.

In the previous home it was a 5000 model series. There is now a 7000 series which we are putting in this house.

Another vote for Miele. Our's is 15 years old this year with zero issues. Works great. We also have a Bosch in our cabin and it is very good but I prefer the Miele drying cycle.

We’re waiting for the new Trump edition dishwashers to come out. They will be quiet, but they will clean the dishes as current models do not. They will probably use more hot water and rely less on chemicals.

Wife bought a bosch last kitchen remodel in 2006. I've repaired it twice. One time, price to pull the control board and replace new was the cost of a new one. Got lucky and found a cold solder joint on the board had cracked, easy to resolder and fix once I'd dug the board out.

2nd time, it caught on fire. Turned out the retards had used wire nuts to attach a large aluminum wire (inbound) to a smaller aluminum wire. Jesus...acrid smoke in the kitchen everywhere. Fortunatly, they'd put the connection inside of a box so the fire was contained. I'd never seen a wire nut fully melt down...anyway, I soldered the wires AND wire nutted them together and it's working great since. I had a fire extinquiser nearby every time I started it for quite some time after that.

19 years.
