Been a while since that dream popped up, hope it won't for a while more.

I did dream a couple days ago that my family and I were on vacation and being chased by a very muscular angry looking guy (who looked like a twin to dave batista??). As we were all running uphill, I'm in the back of the line, and conclude that he's gaining on me and I'll never outrun him. I stop at the steepest point, balance myself against a car's side mirror, and raise my left leg, kicking him squarely in the chest as he comes uphill into range. I'm thinking yeah, I kicked the bejeebus outta him, but boy does my leg hurt... Then I woke up and realized I had a cramp in my left calf.

Now, because of this thread, I'll probably have that dream again tonight. Usually, it has to do with some non-science course that I failed to attend. I hate that dream.

Can I inject reality in place of a dream?

In my sophomore year at LSU, I had a Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday, 8:00am Botany lecture with a weekly 7:00pm 3 hr lab.

The first day of class, the Botany professor held up the text book with with a photo of a field of wheat and said: "God made the plants first, then He created man and that is the proper order of importance. All tests and exams are directly from the book." (Yes, after 53 years, I still remember her exact quote.) She then stated that we will have only a mid-term and final exam. Our lab teacher had the same schedule of two practicals.

Three hours after the Botany lecture I had four, two hr. Fine Arts studio courses.

The one hour Botany literally would have sucked every particle of creativity from my very soul, three hours later, eight straight hours of studio work. What kind of creative creature would I be if I didn't skip the Botany?

That was the last Botany lecture I made, but I did take the two lecture exams, and the first lab and both practicals.

I walked in to the lecture final and the lab final practical with zero study and absolutely clueless. I lived the nightmare: made a "C" for the course.

Believe me, clueless exam reality is much easier to deal with than clueless exam dreams: the reality never repeats. Big Grin

I have not had this recurring dream in a long time, but I used to dream that for some *administrative hiccup* I have to re-complete my senior year in high school. Invariably, during the dreams I always think (to some extent): "but I have a masters degree!"

One of my favorite treats is frosted sugar cookies. I'm a connoisseur. A recurring dream I have at least a few times a year is visiting a place that I used to live, such as Blacksburg, VA/Vtech, and traveling up and down looking for and comparing frosted sugar cookies. I always wake up craving a frosted sugar cookie---go figure!

Nope, never had it. I never stressed in school. I was a bit of a slacker. I got on the dean's list/honor roll without trying. If I had put my all into it I might have had that anxiety. I always figured there wasn't a big difference between an A, A-, and an A+. I got very few B's and didn't get a C until college.

I was the opposite I looked forward to tests and quizzes I always tried to see if I could get the highest grade in the class.

The thing that caused me the most anxiety was interpreting literature and poetry followed by art classes. I am more of a math and science guy not so much on the English and interpretation of art.

Yes I do! Sometimes I’m in college, other times I’m in law school.

I had no idea this was common at all. I wake up feeling awful! Then a huge sense of relief when I realize I’m weeeeeeell past school. It’s a horrible feeling.

Yes, I had that dream for many years. I graduated college in 1979, it finally stopped roughly 10 years ago if I remember correctly. Hated it! LOL

Dreams rarely coincide with reality. This dream (and it's variants) has nothing to do with our failed high school or college experiences. Similarly, it has nothing to do with whether or not we're of the personality to be well prepared or poorly prepared for life's experiences. The dream is our subconscious mind nagging us about some unresolved inner conflict - real or perceived. In fact, our conscious mind may not even recognize or fully understand the details. May I suggest the dream, while universal in its theme, holds a different meaning for different people.

It started about 5 years out of college for me.

I get my final exam schedule for that term, read down through the list and find an exam for class that I realize I only went to on the first day, and never again. No idea why but I skipped every session and now I have a final to take.

A slight variation is that I realize I never went to the class, not one session as somehow I never knew about it until today.

In both cases the exam is almost immediately and I just have enough time to get there. I walk in the room, everyone looks at me like 'who are you' and it ends.

I used to have that dream all the time.
But ever since I retired from full-time cardiology practice, I am now on call almost every night, trying to find residents for rounds, or being given a patient problem that is not cardiac and I can't solve it.
On call more often than when I was working.

I have 3 dreams with regularity - and the one you described is one of them. Another is that I'm running as hard as I can but never get anywhere, and another is where I'm in a public place without a shirt or pants. I looked them up and these are all common dreams, and they all mean something different.

My occasional dream is that I did not hand in the required term paper. Another one is forgetting to punch in on the time clock in one of my very early jobs. How about grabbing the gun when in need and not being able to find the right ammo?

My main anxiety dream was signing up for a college class and then forgetting I'd signed up for it. Then, towards the end of the semester, remembering I'd signed up for the class and then walking into the class that everyone else had been attending for weeks, with no book, and not a clue as to what had been going on.
