Got dispatched out to a welfare check at one of our local “amateur recreational pharmaceutical enthusiast residences” (AKA tweaker house)

Not much we could do on the welfare check as far as the two legged occupants, but there was a real sweet lab puppy they kept locked out on a porch. In a very rural area. No fence, and right off a 50 MPH highway. Coyotes and other critters all over. But yeah. Keep the puppy outside cause you “can’t handle the mess”…

Turns out my partner went back a few hours later for a follow-up and started asking them about the puppy. They said they were “trying to figure out what to do with it, cause they couldn’t deal with it”.

He calls asking if I can meet him at the station, and next thing I know, this lady comes trotting in! He says “You said you would take that puppy in a second, soooooo”.

Well crap. Guess we got number three!

At new home after a bath and a getting to know each other session with her new sisters.

Nice to have a win after the last few weeks of not being able to feel like we really “saved” anyone on any of my cases!

Yeah, great on all levels. She will reward you with many years of joy and unmatched loyalty. A win for you all. Can't imagine how her life would of been with drug addicts for owners. I am going to bed happy. She is so pretty. Congrats.

Sounds like you have a better class of tweaker out there who at least realize when they can't properly care for a pet and are willing to give it up. Ours just keep collecting (hoarding) them until the health department has to get involved.

That's awesome that you were able to give him a home. So few happy endings dealing with dope houses...great to get a win like this, for both of you!
