Palmetto State Armory was already in the big leagues. they have some capital might behind them. They are far from a small gun store chain. https://jjech.com/portfolio-companies/

Not really.. In 1987, when the Nylon 66 stopped production due to worn out dies, Firearms Import and Export of Miami Florida (FIE) imported a copy of the 66 called the GR8 Black Beauty which was made by a company called CBC in Brazil. CBC was part owned by Dupont who also owned a part of Remington, and who developed the plastic used in the rifles. Other importers, Magtech, Kassnar and Century Arms also are believed to have imported the CBC rifles at different times. All CBC rifles that were imported had a black stock and blued metal. It did have the white diamond on the fore stock and white spacers around the grip cap, fore cap and butt stock. It is blank on the grip cap. They never relinquished the rights to produce them. The market changed. They built over one million. A pretty good run. Recently picked one up in mint condition for what is good money considering the cult status they obtained. The line included some very rare versions in lever, and bolt action. And a very rare 22 Short Gallery Special version.

I loved the Nylon 66. It never should have gone out of production.

This gives Vista a LOT of control of the ammo market, maybe too much. CCI, Speer, Federal, Lawman, and now Remington/UMC. I'd like to know what percentage of the US civilian (and LE also) ammo market they would now control? This message has been edited. Last edited by: BBMW,

The story as I remember reading it: the molds (dies?) were worn out. Sales had decreased to the point it was not worth investing the $ into new tooling.

Sounds like good parents of the various pieces except for rifles, shotguns and 1911’s. Who is Round Hill group Llc and why do they now own rifles, shotguns and 1911’s? I am particularly interested in the Remington shotguns and especially the V3 and 870. Here is some local news about equipment sales .... https://www.al.com/news/2020/0...untsville-plant.html 0:01

I hope Ruger corrects all the fuckery that Remington foisted on the good Marlin name. It would be great to see them producing a steady supply of lever guns that don’t require finish work by the consumer to make right. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I visited their museum a few years ago, it's about an hour east of Syracuse. https://www.syracuse.com/busin...investment-firm.html Remington gun factory in Ilion to be sold as part of company’s breakup Updated Sep 29, 2020; Posted Sep 29, 2020 By Rick Moriarty | rmoriarty@syracuse.com Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Remington Arms factory in Ilion, which employs more than 700 people, will be sold to an investment company as part of a plan to break up the troubled gun maker and sell it off in pieces. Roundhill Group LLC is identified in bankruptcy court filings as the successful bidder for the non-Marlin portion of Remington’s firearms business, which includes its gun factory in the Herkimer County village of Ilion and its handgun barrel factory in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Roundhill has agreed to pay $13 million for the firearms business, according to documents filed Sunday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Alabama. The pending sale has union leaders in Ilion optimistic that the gun factory will remain open. “Publicly available documents filed over the weekend with the Bankruptcy Court indicate that there could be a successful bidder for certain assets of Remington that would include the Ilion, N.Y., plant, and that bidder would agree to keep the plant open,” Cecil E. Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America International, said in a statement Monday. Roberts said the union has been in talks with Roundhill about the Ilion plant’s collective bargaining agreement and will be talking with Roundhill further if its bid is accepted by the court. “Our goal throughout this process has always been to keep that plant open and our members working,” he said. “That appears to be on track, at least to this point.” Citing slumping sales, Remington filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of U.S. Bankruptcy Code on July 27, the second time in two years that it has done so. The move created uncertainty about the future of the Ilion plant. The day after the bankruptcy filing, Remington warned in a notice filed under the state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act that it may close the plant and lay off its 717 workers on Sept. 29 or within two weeks after that. The company said it filed the notice because it could not predict the outcome of a potential sale of the company in a bankruptcy court proceeding. Remington was founded in Ilion in 1816 by blacksmith Eliphalet Remington. These are the other successful bidders for Remington’s various businesses: Vista Outdoor Inc. was the successful bidder for the Lonoke ammunitions business. Sierra Bullets LLC was the successful bidder for the Barnes ammunition business. Sturm, Ruger & Co. was the successful bidder for the Marlin firearms business. JJE Capital Holdings LLC was the successful bidder for the DPMS, H&R, Stormlake, AAC and Parker brands. Franklin Armory Holdings Inc. was the successful bidder for the Bushmaster brand and certain related assets. Sportsman’s Warehouse Inc. was the successful bidder for the Tapco brand. The sales, which are subject to the court’s approval, would bring in $155 million to be applied to Remington’s debt.

Thanks! I had wondered how PSA was able to offer such cheap AR uppers/lowers/handguards/etc., but now I see that their parent company also owns aluminum forging and machining companies, so they can do it all 100% in house.

^^^^^^ Fantastic news! You can bet that we will see actual quality control from Ruger, where Remarlington simply assembled them like tinker toys with almost no consistent attention to detail. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

When dealing with Venture Capitalists and M&A specialists, everyone is an opportunist. Vista should've organized their company better and recognized the issue when dealing with outdoor/eco bigots.

Well, they can be embarrassed into it. There's been a lot of grumbling about revolver QC there over the last couple of years. Then again, it's a whole new line so it'll be a whole new chance to start right and continue accordingly.

Ruger does one thing fairly consistently well- rifles. Yes, lever guns are far more complicated beasts as Remington became painfully aware, but I put more faith in Ruger than Big Green any day of the week. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I saw Remington ammo at my FFL yesterday, 9mm in brown cardboard boxes. I guess the new owners have successfully restarted production. They had quite a few boxes, but limit was two per person of course and the price was in line with online prices.... meaning really high. ---------------------------------- "These things you say we will have, we already have." My Ruger SP101 in 22 had to immediately return to the mothership upon purchase. I quickly discovered that the cylinder started to bind. It’s Ruger though so they manned up, paid both ways, and had it back to me quick and working. I can live with that. They should make great Marlins.
