What is the uncomfotable feeling you get, when someone is trying to get you.
I always listen to the little voice. Once a few years before Texas passed its concealed carry law,I was traveling from Dallas to Odessa to visit my mother and grandparents, (I was active duty Navy at the time). I stopped at a rest area between Ranger and Abilene, it was maybe 0200 to 0300 nobody around and kinda spooky looking and my little voice told me not to go out unarmed. I had a loaded blue Detonics Combat Master and a Galco shoulder holster w 2 extra mags. I threw the holster on and the Detonics in it and a windbreaker over that and went to use the restroom. When I came out there was a man who appeared to homeless or hitchhiking loitering around my vehicle. I asked if I could help him and he jumped back asking if I was heading to Dallas. I replied no and he picked up his bag and just disappeared. He had this wild crazed look about him that gave me the creeps. I'm sure if I hadn't been armed he would have done me in. Also now I always carry a led tactical flashlight with me. So when my little voice tells me something I listen.

Instinct. Humans are animals too, but a large portion of people have allowed natural instincts to dull with time and complacency. Those of us that walk around with heads on swivels aren’t paranoid, we are simply in tune.

This...we tend to forget we are animals and anyone that has hunted has seen an animal go from happy munching bambi to Ferrari bambi in .1 secs....they trust their instincts.

Humans often do not...but we should.

Many years go I was traveling on Rt95 North in the area before Mystic, it was around 2 am and I had to Piss so pulled under a bridge and stepped off the breakdown lane and started peeing.

All of a sudden seemingly every hair on my body stood up and I felt real fear- I boogied back to my car and took off. In my mirror I saw a guy sprinting up the breakdown lane after me. Might be the most scared i`ve ever been in my entire life.

For all I know he needed help but I doubt it.

Some great true stories here, I have another one. When I was 20, two friends and I drove from Cali to Panama, Central America. We camped every night, things were pretty safe. However the guy had used his student loan money for a down payment on a brand new Dodge van, so we were three innocent Cali kids driving a shinny new van that was only 3 months old, through very poor countries.

One night we were sleeping in a very secluded spot, in the jungle more or less. All three of us, the guy, the girl, and I, all woke up at the same time and looked at each other. There was no noise, it was completely quiet where we were. The guy hopped in the driver's seat and we drove out of there asap.

Rarely did we camp or sleep in such a hidden location, especially with trees covering the van. However I am sure someone found us and was getting ready to chop us to pieces for what they could find.

I learned many years ago to go with my gut. Call it instinct, call it ESP, call it what you want.

Heed its warning.
