For those of you who have this tool, do you only use WorkSharp branded belts, or have you tried the other belts available on Amazon and other online sources? I ask, because I had an older pack of WorkSharp belts 4X Fine, and all of them failed withing 30 seconds of use at the taped splice. Now, they were 3 years or so old, and were stored in a Florida garage, so I am likely not blameless in this, but I am willing to consider alternatives if they are worthwile. Thanks. I bought generic; they worked fine. I sold the entire system. Went with TS Prof when they were affordable. They are 2x the price now. This message has been edited. Last edited by: downtownv,

I used to order from Micro-Mesh. I ordered the micro-mesh belts at $1.08 now. It used to be $1.75 because it was special order at the time. I went down to 12000 grit which was about 1.5 micron. But yo can get 1 x 18 sanding belts that fit the ken onion worksharp off Amazon now. Link "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. I have both brand and generic. No noticeable difference but I'll be buying generic from now on just because of price. I don't store them in an oven though, so YMMV. ____________ Pace

That would do it, nothing like the heat of Florida in the summer in a garage to destroy glued

I had some old ones that were breaking also so I ordered replacements a few months ago. I just went with WS brand. They're $2 per belt for my 1/2" x 12" sharpener. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

I heard back from WS on an email I sent them asking about storage, and they confirmed that it is a humidity issue, not temperature. They suggested storing the belts in a ziplock bag, or tupperware container, or keeping the belts in the house. They were also kind enough to comp me a 5 pack, even though I specifically told them that I wasn't looking for a freebie, and didn't expect them to replace three year old belts. I have to say, they came through with great customer service in less than 24 hours. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . I use micromesh as well going on 10 years or close to it. I have had maybe two fail and it was most likely my fault. I store them in ziplocks in unheated garage. First In Last Out

Every customer service like this needs to be applauded! It’s so rare now sometimes it seems like a super power. I love companies that value their customers! -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.
