Had the original SE years ago and when it got long in the tooth I got an XR. I was big, bulky, and had that silly Face ID. But that was the lower end of the iPhones available at the time and any used SE was a gamble.
Well my XR had started acting kind of wonky. So I took it to the Apple Store they gave me $200 for it and I paid $379 for a new SE 128gb and AppleCare. No contracts, no financing, no nothing.
Even cloned my old phone exactly. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Wow, I forgot how much better the Touch ID/home button is.
Yes, the screen is somewhat smaller but the picture is so much more crisp and clear than the XR. It fits in the hand so much better and I don’t have a big bulge in my pocket anymore.

Apple you knocked it out of the park for people like me who don’t do much on their phone!!!!

I went the 12 mini route due to the small size. I think I would have been fine if I went with the regular 12 or SE.

Looks to be an iPhone 8 with a new chip. Might consider this for my daughter that has the 8. She likes the home button. Not sure when the 8 will stop receiving iOS updates (security support).

I guess I’m behind the times as I’m still using a 6s.

Phones are just so ridiculously expensive I really dread the day when my success dies.

Perhaps I should follow in your footsteps.

My daughter has the SE 2020 and is out of space. She ran out of the 50GB online I pay $1/mo for as well. I might get her the new SE for 5G service with more memory.
I went from an XS MAX to a 12 PRO for a smaller phone to fit in my wireless charger in the new car but as soon as I put a case on it, it doesn't fit anymore. lol

When I traded up from an 8 to a 13, I missed the home button for about 10 minutes. Now I found that swiping is much more convenient once you get used to it. Plus the extra display real estate.

I've had just about every iteration of the iPhone. The original SE was my favorite. Perfect size and functionality.

I ordered the new IPhone SE Gen 3 256GB with the A15 processor today. Cool

I love the home button and I LOVE that apple makes an affordable phone with a great processor and decent specs for people stuck in their ways like me & don’t want a phone without the home button. Big Grin

My case does not arrive until Sunday.

I picked up a used SE 1st gen a couple years ago. I had just ordered a replacement battery because it wouldn't hold a charge longer than 5hrs. While I was waiting for the battery to be shipped, the phone was dropping calls. I decided a new phone was required. I picked up a two year old SE 2nd gen and love it.

That’s what I have right now and it’s been great! I bought a used SE Gen 2 256GB when I discovered my 7 wouldn’t work on T-Mobile’s network after the Sprint merger. I got a hell of a lot of phone for not a lot of money.

When I saw the Gen 3 came out and the cost was sub $600 for a 256GB memory version with a better processor and slightly improved battery life I decided to go ahead and upgrade. My brother is still using a 7 so I’ll give him my SE Gen 2 which will be a decent upgrade for him as well.

AT&T gave me an SE when they made my iPhone 4 obsolete. Wasn’t happy about getting a larger phone.
People would see the 4 and say “look how small it is” I would always reply yeah, it’s great.

I wish I knew how folks get such longevity out of these things. I always keep them cased with a screen protector.
Never had an issue with them physically breaking. I had a charging port go out once it was like 2 weeks after Apple Care ended and they were kind enough to give me a refurb. This XR I just got rid of was like 3 years old and the touch screen was not being so touchy and more and it would frequently get stuck and not rotate the screen and I would have to reset it. Battery life was still decent.
But with all my other phones they would all become ridiculously slow it was nearly unusable. Talking on the phone it worked fine but everything else just dragged and dragged.
Even wiping the thing and starting fresh would not help.

Though I am hoping maybe this will live long enough that a Tesla Pi will be my next phone.

I still have a 6+ that suits me fine size-wise. Unfortunately apple no longer provides security updates for it. The SE I replaced it with was so small I had trouble reading text on it. Now I’m using an 11, which is still difficult for me to read on.

To each his own I suppose. I think the Face ID is one of the best features Apple put on these phones. It really does Work flawlessly even in complete darkness. The light from the lock screen is enough for the camera and system to do it's thing, and you only need one free hand to open the phone. The one that's holding it. I had more trouble with the fingerprint reader in the home button. It was never 100% for me, and many times it took several tries to get recognition. I'm reminded of this when I use my iPad which uses this function.

And yes, the SE is a perfect fit for people who really just want a mobile phone and text.

Couldn't agree more! Bought my first Iphone last year and the SE 2020 was what I decided on and it fits my needs and wants perfectly.

cas, I’m with you on that. In many ways the iPhone 4 was the best phone they ever made, it’s size was 100% perfect for me.

The slightly larger screen on the SE gen2 is nice for internet browsing but I loved the small size of the 4 and miss that a lot.

I look at the plus size phones and shake my head. There is no way I’d be carrying around a big ass phone like that.
