Anyone know the Trademark Process?
I’m about to start a side business and I want to trademark the name so nobody else can use it. I know very little about the trademark process but before I go any further I thought I would ask if anyone has any expertise? Do I need an attorney, etc?

Thanks for your time.

My wife did it on her own with a little help from searching google. A lawyer would be easier if you don’t want to do it yourself. Enforcement is a different issue and gets to be a pain quickly.

I did a couple on my own (though I don't remember how). Don't recall it being too difficult.

I have done a few, and know enough to be dangerous. Email in contact page.

I have a very good attorney that does trademarks and patents for me. I am very glad to talk to you about the process. Send me an email if you want to talk.

Once you know your name’s good to go, you gotta file an app with the trademark office. This usually means filling out some forms, paying fees, and maybe dealing with any issues that pop up.

When I had problems with trademark, Robert Meyen helped you a lot . A Lawyer for trademark is so important and I recommend them for your problem.

Having been on both sides, I would offer this. A trademark is only as valuable as your willingness to defend it. It doesn’t stop someone else from using it. It does give you an avenue to go after them if they do.

In my line of work (independent life insurance sales) we just register an LLC with whatever name we want and maybe buy a web domain that's pretty close to the name and not too many characters to type. If it's a name that others are likely to use, they probably already have.
