Exactly the first thing I thought. Gives Rahm the right to abdicate responsibility for the sustained failure of Democratic policies. Let their asses hang in the wind.

I actually would rather not hear him speak, ever again. Just resign, leave town, and hand over control of the city to people who have the ability and integrity to fix it. New story for 2018. Feds move in and make arrests, crime down. Trump accused of sending in racist cops to harass hard working citizens of Chicago. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Wall it off! The rest of Illinois is a great state. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Rahm- "We will not allow any of Trumps Federal agents to enforce laws within our city, ever!" ...One Week Later... "I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them." - John Wayne in "The Shootist"

No double standards |
Unless and until they address the root cause, which would cause liberals to scream racism, they will not solve the problem. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944

Probably best to let the city fester until the voters eventually understand that things really have to change. -c1steve

Trump has said Chicago must be fixed. He's also said if Rahm won't fix it, then he'd send in the Feds. Rahm on the other hand started resisting the President. Now he's figured out if he goes along with it,then the monkey gets put on Trump's back. While Rahm's idea of getting Federal help is probably not the same as Trump's, he has successfully shifted attention back to Trump. If Trump doesn't follow through, and I think he will, then Rahm wins. If he does follow through and it's unsuccessful, regardless the cause of the failure, then Rahm wins again. Trump has but one choice here, I think, and that's to pull out the stops. Get your popcorn out, this is going to get interesting. ———- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup.

Brother, I have been following Second City Cop Blog religiously. It helps me realize as bad as my department is, others have it much worse (sorry, no offense meant, and my condolences). 5 years and two months to retirement...... when I retire, I won't be living anywhere near an "urban area" or within a 100 miles of any form of public transportation.

Bwaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha If I was trump I'd tell him "don't worry, we're sending help. The masons will be there soon to build the wall.... Around your city!" They made their bed, now it's time to lie in it.
