Actually Platinum is not heavier than Gold.

They both have the same density.

An ounce of platinum does weight exactly the same as an ounce of gold. But a similar volume of platinum will weight about 10% more. It is slightly more than twice as hard, does not conduct heat or electricity as well, and is far more scarce on our planet.

Lots of Dungeons and Dragons playing probably. The value scale in that game has pegged platinum as ten times the value of gold. It's made me spend years trying to find and horde electrum.
