Today is Father’s Day! Hopefully all the father’s out there have something planned


I’m going to spend time with my 3 children, and try and visit my father in law (who is still partially isolating, especially my potential hot spot of a house)


My father died on may 22, 1994. Because of military commitments for both of us the last Father’s Day I spent with him was June 17, 1990. The summer before my senior year in high school. 30 years. I miss him every day. If you still have your father, hopefully you can and will contact them today

Sorry about your dad. Mine is in decline. His ability to talk is severely limited. His fine motor skills are lacking. I can tell we have few fathers days left. So I agree with your admonition. Happy fathers day all.

Yes, today is extremely bittersweet for me for several reasons.

My dad passed away 31 years ago. We had just begun to reconcile after years of difficulty. I was on active duty stationed in Hawaii. He was scheduled for heart bypass surgery on a Wednesday, and we were coming home for it. I was scheduled to fly home Monday to be there in time for his surgery, but he died in his sleep Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Today would have been our older son's 29h birthday. He died almost 7 years ago, and I can only wonder if he would be married and have kids of his own.

Our younger son is celebrating his first father's day after his daughter was born on June 2. Unfortunately, he has never seen her in person, only via video chats, and won't get to see her for 2 more months due to military commitments.

Picking up my pop at 06:30 and Heading out to the same offroad trail my wife and I went on yesterday. Should make for a fun morning.

Father's Day Brunch:

Happy Father's Day to all fathers. It seems as time goes by we take for granted our parents will always be there. My wife's father just passed this week, so it has been interesting. He did give my son a nice pistol a year ago, that he had in his collection of which he will always have a little something of his grand-dad.

I would have seen my daughter and new granddaughter today but for the military restrictions on travel and quarantine.

I am spending time with Dad today, as I do several times per week (he lives just a few miles from me). In fact, we just finished watching a church service on my computer, and are getting ready to go out and get some lunch. He is now 101, and bored due to all the needs to keep safe lately.

He gave up driving at the beginning of the year - we had someone picking him up on his two bowling days each week - those, too, got cancelled due to COVID-19. He has done pretty much all the gardening around the house. When restaurants were open only for pick-up, I'd take him out a couple of times a week to do that so that he would get away from the house.

Our bittersweet moment is that Mom passed away on Father's Day 8 years ago. They were married just 3 months shy of 65 years, and met in England when Dad was over there for World War II. He has held up remarkably well. His hearing is what is really not helping. He is pretty much at the edge of technology with hearing aids (provided by the VA). I need to get him back into some social circles as soon as it is safe to help him maintain his abilities.

Having the son and daughter in law over for a smoked salmon and ribeye lunch. They're bringing the two grand dogs as an added bonus. I love the time that I have with my family. Happy fathers day to all.

My Dad died 10 years ago. My FIL is still alive at 88 and lives with us. Today, we took him to Rockport, MA for a seafood lunch: clam plate for him, fish & chips for my wife, and scallop plate for me. Had to eat outdoors, right near the ocean! (Aw, geez!!!) He had a good time as he's from MA!

For all of you who can still spend time with your Dads, relish it as it disappears instantly!!!

My father died on Father's day, many years ago. It now a day to remember him.

My mother died on June 20th, two years ago.

I lost my Dad in 2008, my older brother in 2009, my Mom in 2013, my father-in-law in 2014, and my mother-in-law in 2015. Those were some rough years. I miss them all...

Today, however, we’re spending with our younger daughter and our three grandchildren. Icing on the cake is it’s my daughter’s birthday today, so it’s a double celebration!

Of all I’ve accomplished in life, my two daughters are the crowning achievement; along with my awesome wife of 32 years, we raised two good, smart, independent women. Life is good.

I lost my dad 4 years and 2 weeks ago. We memorialized him on Father’s Day.

It’s still a rough day.

My Dad passed away in 1995 and I still miss him.

Your children are your legacy. I always told my sons that they were the product(s) of my life's work, and I wanted to provide a good product to the world. Congrats on raising two good life products.

I spent the weekend with my pops. He'll be 90 next month and we hung out and shot the breeze and watched Westerns and races (old ones) and I took him out and got him a new recliner and we had pizza and beer. Great time and everyone counts. My boy called and we had a nice conversation so I'll call it a great weekend !
