My view from last weekend.
I plan on being out there on the 4th.
With any luck, I'll have to place all to myself again.

My friends have a pool and are backed up to a golf course. I'll be over there getting fatter, and displacing water from their pool.

Looks like xl_target has me beat.

But I will be smoking a pork butt, and a few racks of ribs, a cooler full of ice & beer and over with family to watch the fireworks.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Heading up to the north end of Lake Lanier for a day or two and then I'll catch a few fireworks shows Tuesday night. Downtown Marietta has a decent one and then the Braves will have a big one after their game later that night.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

It is my absolute most favorite holiday and the only time of year I usually take time off. Unfortunately no big plans this year as it is suppose to rain all week. So I'm just gonna hit the range with my new to me 686 and CHP4006, try to smoke some ribs, and drink a few beers while watching Jaws (always watch it on the Fourth). Smile

31st wedding anniversary for me. I tell people that before we got married my wife made me promise to make her see fireworks on her wedding night. I've been doing that every year since. Cool

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Well since this is the first July 4th of my retirement.

Stain the deck, power washed it two weeks ago. Go to the range for a while, have to shoot some of the ammunition I was given as a retirement present.

Town fireworks display later that evening.

Went to watch fireworks Friday night and a big family BBQ yesterday. We have our 4 year old granddaughter for the weekend on top of it all. It's been busy.

What will I be doing on the 4th? Most likely not much. Go to the gym and workout, peruse SIGFORUM for a while, read some Louie L'Amour and take a nap.
