Standards need to be raised. Just think if we found inattention acceptable for air traffic controllers. I have found tools under the hood sometime later but missing lugnuts is more than dangerous.

Hopefully they will send out new lug nuts. However every vehicle service I have had always included notice of customer responsibility to inspect lug nuts after 50 miles. For what its worth I never check them.

The dealer is not a good place for oil changes or basic service. Convenient for those with extended warranties, nice waiting room, TV, free munchies (unless sales eats them all up). Sometimes a shuttle ride home, wander around looking at new rides. As far as your car, Least skilled workers doing the service. They are not going to have any Master Techs changing oil when they have warranty blown engines and transmissions to handle.

I have found tools and shop rags on the engine of a client's airplane that I picked up from service, supposedly ready for a flight couple hundred miles out over the Atlantic to one of the Bahama Out Islands. I had an interesting conversation with the Maintenance Director about that. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

UPDATE: Service manager called this morning, and as predicted claimed not their fault. Also as predicted claimed someone probably tried stealing them when parked on driveway. She also claimed they never did a tire rotation and only did oil change. She was adamant I only requested oil change and that is what the work order showed. I said I didn't have it in front of me and she offered to send it.(this is important later). But she would generously give me two free lug nuts. So I escalated. General manager acknowledged it was suspicious and acknowledged they should have noticed in walkaround. He sent a technician out to install new lug nut and check torque on all others. I also requested inspection on studs and rim. Well the technician installed new lug nut and torqued. Then I found the inspection video. It clearly shows wheels were removed, so I left message with gm explaining i was upset she lied to me. I get home, find the service write up, which clearly shows more than oil change was done , including brake system flush. Hmmm maybe they do that without removing wheels, but I suspect not. So another message left with gm requesting a meeting and perhaps she should attend so she can lie to my face instead of just over the phone. So not only did she lie, she was comfortable trying to bluff me? Or ,maybe she didn't look at the service record amd lied about that. So , good and bad news , problem kinda fixed, gm stood up, service manager is a lieing scumbag.... .
