I’d still visit because of the intelligence of the membership, but every time I’d see the Eagle avatar, I’d have to say a prayer for God to forgive him, for he knows what he says.

Yes, I've no doubt that in years to come, the record of social impressions left by this and other forums will allow for a fine-tuning of history. The case of Donald Trump turning from a NY billionaire impresario into the perceived savior of the United States will receive much study.

The views of the membership, along with the membership, and the various postings would be swinging back and forth so much....well the old adage of a screen door swinging in hurricane comes to mind.

Thank you Parabellum, along with the moderators and members (even the ones I have on Ignore Big Grin ) for the stable forum.

I KNOW I would not have stuck around, and I'm sure most of us wouldn't be here, either.

I was about to post this exact thing.

I would have left like I did with Drudge. I can enjoy a site that ignores Trump but not one that bashes him.

Edit to add: I’m so grateful for this sanctuary from the insanity of most of the rest of the web.

What intrigues me is what DoctorSolo referred to- the idea of gun forums, which are traditionally overwhelmingly conservative venues, turning their back on the one POTUS in decades who has even come close to representing us, bump stock bullshit be damned.

I'd be interested in hearing stories, without getting too specific about the particular places.

There's a contemporary offtopic subforum on one of the biggest gun forums where discussion of Trump is such that if what was said there was said here, you'd be banning people. It's nearly the polar opposite in regards to this one topic, and the first time I saw it, it shocked me. I have a friend who let that shit poison his mind and we didn't speak for several years on the heels of him parroting some of the derp he read there because I just wouldn't listen to it.

This is the type of people who are on this forum: this is the only place where if I sell something, I will ship before the check clears. This is also the only place where I will send someone something to try out if I have spares; did that with shaving razors.

The way the members here act, if people in society acted like this, the world would be a much better place.

Yeah... I'm here because I like the people here.
And it's not because we all think the same; we don't. There's plenty of difference in the way people here look at things in all realms, not just politics. But we don't suffer fools (at least not for long). I like that.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

TDS is real. The unadulterated gaslighting on a number of other recent important issues in the media has been beyond what we could have imagined just a few years ago. There has been a complete breakdown in rational thought outside of a few places like this forum.

This has been a refuge for sanity. Not a fawning fan-boy site, but where we have been able to have honest adult conversations, including bringing up DJT's faults and errors.

More than that, there are many more individuals in society who are on the right side but are afraid to speak up. SigForum has provided proof to me that I am not the outlier, which has made me more confident in speaking my mind to others, which then reveals that they have felt isolated by cancel culture.

This forum is part of the reservoir that will refuel the country's revival.

The place I'm thinking of was pretty active, not like ARFcom huge but several frequent, intelligent posters and lively discussions.

When Trump started his first term, a vocal minority of TDS afflicted posters emerged. The 2020 election led to some pretty insufferable commentary there especially. Now the site is much less active than it used to be.

When people are allowed(encouraged?) to say that we are stupid for supporting Trump, it has an impact. It's not fair to the ownership of that site to publicly deride them. It's not their fault for being hands-off, philosophically, they only banned people for talking about anything illegal as far as I know.
