"I don't know. Do you see me?" The answer, of course, is yes, the accountant saw him. Sugar shot him.

He also spared the trailer park lady, even though he could have easily killer her and the toilet guy.

I’ve always believed he killed him. He probably did. But what makes me doubt is the coin toss. He did let the gas station guy live with the toss, though he didn’t know what Chigurh was. Lewellyn’s wife did know but he was willing to let her guess the coin toss. He did kill her but she wouldn’t call the coin either. So he could have let the accountant call the coin. I believe he was spared. If Sugar had already made up his mind to kill the accountant, he wouldn't have bothered asking if he sees him. He gave the accountant an out. I'm quite sure the accountant is smart enough to know how to answer that question.

He killed the accountant. He only gave the coin toss option to two people, the gas station guy and the wife. We know how that went. He did kill the trailer park lady and the toilet guy. Remember the conversation the two sheriff's had at the end of the movie, after Lewellyn was killed? The one sheriff commented about the "bark" that sugar had and what he did to the trailer park lady. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

I took a look at the scene. The account says "Are you going to shoot me?" Chigurh turns and says "That depends. Do you see me?" In the Mexican hospital scene, Llewelyn tells Carson Wells that he's seen Chigurh. Wells says "You've seen him, and you're not dead?" Draw your own conclusions.

I had thought he spared him. Now, I have to watch it again (as if I needed an excuse). _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

The kids on the bikes, one of which gave him the shirt, are certainly dead by now. (At least I think they were on bikes. Been years since I saw that movie) .

True but he didn't see him shoot/kill anyone. He was just an uncomfortable figure to him and not a person that just killed a couple people.

I don't think so. He has a very odd but very rigid ethical code - he didn't kill the gas station attendant, the woman property manager at Moss's trailer park or, I think, the accountant because they spoke simply and truthfully.

"That depends," he said. Depends upon what? The next line tells you this: "Do you see me?" "That depends upon if you've seen me" is what he is saying, and before you say that he didn't shoot other people who saw him, those other people did not witness him commit murder, as did the accountant, and those other people had no idea who he was, but the accountant knew who he was.

Yup, what Para said. The trailer park lady was killed. We didn't see it but we were told that by the Sheriff. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.
