Fine job!

Very impressive! They look really good on the table, too- I’m afraid I might get too attached, though!

Honestly, I have some breeders that are great birds who will live out their lives without fear of becoming dinner.

But...the males on the plate were absolute jerks. Extremely aggressive towards other birds to the point that I found them, one morning, eating one they had killed overnight. I had no problem returning the favor. (They were delicious)

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this thread, because it takes me back to being a young boy.

Back in the early '70s my Dad and most of his co-workers and friends were avid bird hunters, and I grew up eating pheasant, grouse, chucker, quail, duck, and goose.

The communication station he worked at was located in the middle of ag. country, hundreds of acres of open space. I can't remember if it was corn or wheat that was planted there.

So my Dad and several of his co-workers raised quail in a small pen they built, and, as a young boy he would take me to see the hatchlings, before they released them.

That's some good eats right there. Smile

Thanks for this thread!
