The auditors also found that sometimes packages were marked as "no access to the delivery point" or "animal interference" with the delivery even though the scans were done miles away from where the package was supposed to be delivered. Because of this audit, postal workers are getting additional training.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
ADDITIONAL TRAINING. Most other employees would be FIRED for incompetence and flagrant distortion of the truth.

Yeah. “Additional training” might be effective if it included flogging.

I pretty much never get anything on time anymore from USPS. My most current "in transit/arriving late" Priority Mail package was sent on 18 February. It should have been here in 2-3 days. It finally showed arrival in Mobile, AL this morning.

I dropped 1st class letter mail off at my local Florida post office on January 4th. It arrived at its destination in Northern Virginia on February 18. The pony express was faster.

I buy and sell many items on Ebay.

In December, delivery was a real mess. I had packages shipped in late November that I did not receive until two months later. Admittedly, this was using the bottom of the line "Media Rate". Having said that, even Priority Mail is not as fast as it should be.

In January, there were signs of improvement, but by mid-February, it's getting worse again. Very inconsistent.

Inquiries do not help much. On the aforementioned item that was 2 months late, I put in two inquiries - the item had been in the infamous "Arriving late - on its way to next facility" in the tracking. All I got back was delays due to COVID. Thanks, great help.

Although UPS and Fed Ex are not perfect, they are far more consistent than USPS. If COVID was the problem, why aren't FedEx and UPS equally affected?

FedEx Ground is, from all I've seen reported. FedEx Ground ≠ FedEx. FedEx Ground is a subsidiary of FedEx, formerly known as Roadway Package System.

USPS needs to be abolished, they are a continued failure and waste of taxpayer money (BTW, they did make a profit last year). Incompetent does not start to describe them. Being an FFL, I use all three major carriers but UPS and FedEx in my area have been great, USPS seems to always try to out do their incompetence and they always succeed.

I think that FedEx Ground uses a lot of independent contractors.

I am not fan of UPS, but UPS Ground is probably a better choice than FedEx Ground, if you have the opportunity to choose.

Maybe I should have said a "less bad" choice, instead of "better" choice.

USPS does not normally allow handguns to be mailed. Is it a handgun? Who is sending you a gun to your home address?

You can only do that to the non-union employees.

Stopped by the community mailboxes on the way home from work the other day. Maintenance guy was hanging out by the boxes. I walk up and he asks me "have you ever seen anything like this?" I look over and 99% of the boxes had the rear loading doors left wide open and there were two empty mail bins sitting on top of them. It's like the delivery guy had a stroke and just drove off before finishing the job. Strange.

I collect my mail and head home. Half hour later I leave to pick up my grocery order and the poor maintenance guy was still standing guard over the exposed boxes. I see a mail truck down the street so I chase him down and ask him if he could go secure the boxes. He says that it's his route and he received a call about it and he would lock them up. He then proceeds to stagger over to another house to deliver a package. No sense of urgency to secure his mistake.

About the time I'm driving away the maintenance guy drives up . I assume to chew on the postal guys ass for wasting his time.

I've also caught them telling misleading stories on package delivery's.

I guess it's a stressful job as almost all postal employees I encounter seem pissed off or miserable. Guess that's why they were shooting each other in the face as far back as the early 1990's Eek

I ship a lot with USPS,

shipped a shotgun to MT on 1-13,
5 days later the buyer (who had a tracking number) started asking,

5 days later, asks again,

I kept telling the guy the USPS was having trouble, and to be patient

a week after that I called USPS Customer Service and started a trace, reminding them it was a firearm,

week later still not action, even tho I got an email and phone call from the post office on each end,

call #2, and again a reminder it was a firearm, and insured, and it shook loose,
but then delayed again ,

call #3 was a no go, we cannot update after 2 times, file a claim,
so call the local Police, and file a lost report, and file the claim with the insurance,

a week later it showed up moving and delivered,

6 weeks in transit,

cancel police report, cancel insurance claim, drank a beer

USPS is usually okay for me.
I have a packaged that was shipped 3/3 from Virginia to Houston.
Originally scheduled for delivery on 3/8 and it actually arrived a short while ago.

I might have missed it, but I did not see that it was going to his home address. He might very well be tracking a package that is addressed to his FFL.

Or, OP might be FFL.

Not enough information to tell.

No, you did not see that it was addressed to his home address, nor did you see if it was a rifle or handgun, nor did you see if it was from a private person or FFL. That is why I inquired. You're right, not enough information.

It’s going to my FFL. Still nothing now it’s 5 days late. Got a call from local PO who is looking into it. Should I even tell them it’s a handgun? I fear it may really “disappear” if they know what it is.

Fed Ex ground sucks in this area,
contract drivers that flat out don't care,

Fed EX express is a different group, and work for Fed Ex generally, and are better in this area, but fed ex still sucks,

UPS is UPS , and good here, but I have customers I have shipped to in other parts of the state that say they suck,

USPS is good with handguns,
from dealer to dealer only,

and much cheaper than the other 2
