About this time, twenty-five years ago today, I was standing on a beach in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, taking my vows.
Anyone who has been married a long time knows that there are many opportunities for it to fall apart, but my wife and I have managed to stay together despite all things and I know now that we will remain together until the death of one of us.
After this long together, I can't imagine being without her. I don't know that I could bear the burden. It's likely a moot point, though, since genetics is on her side. On both sides of her family, her relatives tend to live past the age of 100. So, I tell her, mostly joking but not entirely- next time around, choose better.

Mrs. A. and I crossed the 25 year bridge a couple of years ago, it is very comforting to have a relationship with that kind of staying power. Can't imagine life without her.
