It's all part of the adventure... |
Yes, especially after I did a cat-back dual exhaust with a Flowmaster Super 10 muffler and dual-out-rear pipes. (It sounds amazing, by the way!) The AFM drove me nuts because I could not only feel the change, but now I could really hear the difference. I solved it by buying a Diablosport Predator 2 Platinum tuner with which I could disable the AFM as well as enhancing the performance. It made a huge improvement to me in driveability and enjoyment. I like my V8 to stay a V8! On the highway, I can either go back to stock or use the economy tune. Plus I can read and clear DTC’s and check my battery voltage, and read a whole bunch of sensors and gauges. Edited to add: 2012 Silverado 1500 Z71 2WD Crew Cab 5.3L.This message has been edited. I have a 2019 Colorado with the V6 and I cannot feel any change when it does it's thing, whenever that is. There is a screen on the DIC that will show you that information but I never go to it. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

Had it in for the free oil change and busted seat heater warranty repair and the service fella said that rumble I am describing is perfectly normal with these things. Range Technology AFM disabled will be purchased. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. 2007 Suburban. Yes, I can feel the V4 to V8 transition. I had the V4-V8 mode disabled with the flip of a bit in the existing ECM. Smoothness returned. After a few more tanks of fuel, I might have it switched back on, and see if it saves sufficient fuel to put up with the lack of power and torque pulse. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

All that matters is YOUR GMC. If you notice it and it annoys you, get the plug in module that deactivates it. You mentioned it's your wife's vehicle, if it doesn't annoy her, leave it alone...….

I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado V6, I didn't even know it did this, so it must be seamless. Guess I'll have to watch the screen now to see when it kicks in. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

My 2019 Chevy Equinox shuts the whole engine off when you stop at a light or in traffic. I have a hard time thinking all that is good for the engine Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

The same company that makes the RANGE module to deactivate V8>V4 is supposed to be working on an undetectable OBDII module that will address the engine off feature. But if it doesn't bother you, no need to use it when available. https://www.rangetechnology.com/ Again, remember to remove it if going to the dealer and it will probably effect the EPA average fuel rating on your vehicle.

The Suburban has become our family mover so I drive it pretty frequently. So I ordered the range today. I’ll let you all know how it goes when I arrive. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Well the Range AFM delete arrived last night. Due to some unexpected circumstances had to take off work and drive all over town. So I popped the unit in the OBDII port and off we went. Could not be happier! The shudder and rumble is completely gone. Throttle seems smoother and a touch more responsive. Most folks claim a loss of 1 mpg. I don’t care as I don’t monitor it anyway. I did not buy an SUV to be a fuel sipper. But I am guessing I won’t loose much as every time it started to rubble I gave it some throttle to get smooth again. I’ll likely unplug it for long highway trips. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Glad to hear an update and that it worked out for you. Many of the threads on here, you never get to hear the outcome!

Excellent, lots of dod videos on youtube. I used HP Tuners with a laptop. A little more complicated it was well worth the money.

I've had the Range in my Silverado for a year or so now. A previous Silverado had it tuned out but I didn't want to go the tuner route as since 2014 they leave a trail the dealer can see and that can spell warranty trouble. I have no idea if it saves any gas on the newer rigs but I didn't see a change in my 2011. The V4 mode is more annoying with an exhaust on the truck so it will probably stay in this summer when I make a trip to Indy.

In my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5.7L Hemi I can turn economy mode on and off. TBH, I feel little difference with it on or off, except when I lay on the throttle with it on, initial acceleration is a bit slower--until the computer realizes I'm serious and turns the other four cylinders on ![]() Leaving it in "eco" mode results in a couple mpg or so average improvement in fuel economy, so I leave it on. It automatically disables "eco" if I shift the trans to sport or manual modes. "America is at that awkward stage. I own a 2019 Corvette A8. I am not sure if this applies to the trucks but in Feb 2019 a new trans fluid was begun to be put in A8 on the production line. The root problem with the shudder according to GM is the trans fluid absorbing moisture from the air. Sounds a bit far out but it does seem to work for many. On the Corvette if you have the shudder, the dealer can do a triple flush of the automatic with the new fluid. Most have had success. Just in case, I will continue to run the Range device. It cannot hurt to ask if your vehicle is eligible for the new ATF.
