The same happened to my son’s iPhone 6, and when we took it to the Apple store to have a new battery installed the tech told us that cheap wall-adapters and cables are likely the root-cause for many battery problems (which is what he was mostly using to charge his phone).

I had this happen to my 6 year old Apple 13" Macbook Pro. The touchpad was lifting up a little, became difficult to navigate. A couple of days later, the case separated, similar to this pic.

I opened it up and the battery expanded and ballooned out. Bought a new battery and special screwdrivers to replace. The touchpad is a little bit more difficult to navigate, but works OK.

We are using iPad minis at work (well, would be if anyone was there) in the meeting rooms mounted in the wall. Room schedule, book from room, etc. They were attached to power all the time and we got swelling within a year.

We are using Ethernet cable adapters to provide power from PoE. So we just automated the network to once a week cut power on those ports for 24 hours to exercise the batteries. Working well so far.

Definitely a truth, on my Drone I have to keep a close eye on the battery packs. They start to swell up and don’t lock into place quite right. During flight they have come loose drone loses power drops from the sky like a brick.

"They both have been doing fine, until recently, when my wife's phone started to swell up ...Mine then started to do the same, although not as bad."

If you had been patient and just waited until full term, them you would have two more brand new Samsung Galaxy S6's.

Or am I overthinking this? Roll Eyes
