Home use Unit is $20k and produces 150 gallons a day. Pricey but assuming this is a real thing, I wonder what will happen in those states where you can’t even gather run off on your property. No doubt a new and innovative tax scheme.

Too much BS in that website to look through. It’s like they don’t want you to know technical details. I’m guessing it’s just a refrigerated condenser?

I think they used a version of these on Arrakis.

If we allow the banning of rain barrels, what is to stop the banning of humidity gatherers?

You bring up a great point flesh. How about in those fucking liberal states, their governors pass legislation that requires them to wear the piss suits in public. Just like the Arrakis suits, they convert urine to water. Many states dependent on farming water from another state. No more. Buy your piss suit.

The amount of water produced will vary wildly from place to place depending on available relative humidity. I’d be interested in values somewhere with extremely low RH.

Just put it in front of your swamp cooler and you're good Smile

Knowing what a garage dehumidifier costs to run, I'm wondering how much this thing will cost in electricity.

It says 6,000 watts. It also says 22amps at 220/240 volts which is around 5,000 watts.

5kWh * $.15/kWh * 24 hours/day * 30 days/month = $540/month if I kept track of my units properly.

$540/month/(120 gallons/day * 30 days/month) = $.15/gallon

Huh, if we do a substitution and simplify, we find that the cost of each gallon equals the price of a kWh of electricity, but only when the unit uses 5,000 watts.

Now, factoring in the $20,000 price of the unit over its lifetime, 10 years?, that’s about $.20/gallon total.

If solar panels and batteries were another $20,000, then it would be $.10/gallon.

That seems cheap. Maybe my math is wrong.

But if we use that water to generate hydrogen we can use the hydrogen to make electricity! Free electricity from the air! (I'm going to be a Congressman some day)

This Genesis system is asinine.

Trapper, I agree with your numbers.

compare that to a municipal water system which costs way less then a penny per gallon to purify.

As another comparison, if you start with sea water, it takes about a kWh to desalinate about 70 gallons using modern filtering techniques.

The company says it's a "green" solution to water scarcity. I'm calling Bullshit on that.
