I've never been a fan of Comcast. They continuously bait and switch their plans. But we have no choice. My girlfriend is a realtor working out of the home most of the time. We have kids that game a lot. I work from home a bit. I'm surprised that we have gotten this far. I hope it all continues to go smoothly. Then once they install it they can start ripping us off on the monthly plans. If there weren't enough houses we were looking at $15000 or something to install based on what I heard on the forums and the distance it has to go. These go to eleven.

And they knew where it would go if they gave you the specs and it didn't work: You'd try to make it their problem. Here's how it works with any service provider: They supply a good connection/signal up to a point called a "demarc" (short for "demarcation point"). On their side of the dmarc it's their problem. On your side of the demarc it's your's. They aren't going to give you advice for your side of the dmarc and make your side their problem. What you were asking to do was extend the demarc to the road. I'm surprised they were even willing to do that. Usually they won't, IME, and here's why: Depending upon where that demarc would end up in their local system, and the distance between the extended demarc and premises: The signal may be too degraded to be usable by the time it gets to the premises to be usable. 1/8 mile, 1,320 feet, is a long way. What you would need, btw, would be something like Belden 1525A or 1532A gel-filled direct burial coax cable. It is not a whole lot of fun to work with, I'm told. Requires special terminators and tools. N.B.: This is not advice or a recommendation. You'd want to bury deep, because having somebody cut through it would ruin your day.
No service provider would have done any differently. You want to know if it can work and what you should use: You need to do your own research. "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system,,,, but too early to shoot the bastards." -- Claire Wolfe "If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living." -- Seneca the Younger, Roman Stoic philosopher
