Talk about stupidity that was shown by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to declare Jane Fonda Day on the day Saigon fell. The rescinded the date to another day, but still the stupidity lingers.

This piece was so very well written against the Supervisors decision:

No disrepect, Dave, but I think this was more like a deliberate act by the left. They are quite aware of dates which celebrate communist victories.

Things like this don’t happen by accident from the bastards who hate America. Very well calculated. If they hate this country so much, why won’t they leave?

^^^^^I agree with the above posters. This was no accident. They know the dates. Mad

EDIT to add; I just checked her wikipedia page. She's definitely a good little commie. "As a teenager Gloria Allred and Hillary Clinton were some of her role models". Has a BS from Notre Dame in Political Science and gender studies. Blah Blah Blah.

Many years ago, 80's sometime, Jim Webb (Marine Infantry officer, author, Secretary of the Navy or undersecretary, only matters here to ID him, was in San Diego promoting his new book. The interviewer, apparently still suffering from an early childhood brain injury asked Webb if he had heard the Jane was in San Diego and was going to speak and asked if Webb would attend.

Web paused and said: "I wouldn't cross the street to watch her cut her own throat."

I've never been able to improve on that.

Just slightly off topic, but this is such a coincidence. I got a text from my dad just yesterday to see if this picture was legit.
Someone he barely knows, who knows someone, who knows someone else, who knows the owner of that boat, the man standing at the bow; found this picture on the internet. My dad said it is our family on this boat.

It's real and I can't believe it. We've id my mom, dad, uncle, aunt, grandmother, great grand father, 2 siblings and a cousin in this picture. The rest of the 4 generations on that boat is at the stern.

Taken by Dirck Halstead in what should be around May 2, 1975.

Dirck passed away 2 years ago... on my brother's bday (the boy standing, holding onto the makeshift tent, wearing the same favorite shirt of his).

We have only 1 B&W photo of him with that same shirt on...

Anyway, trying to reach out to Dirck's estate/family to see if they happen to have more of these pics.... just unreal.

My uncles and dad cried last couple of days from the memories the picture brought back.... they've never really talked about the "trip"

But My mom, who passed away last year from pancreatic cancer mentioned the initial phase of the trip where they had to walk over 100km, on each side of the path was a river of blood flowing all the way to the sea... and how they had to walk through jungle that was sprayed with chemicals including agent orange...

The strive to leave communist Vietnam was worth the risk of likely death at the time.

I will forever be indebted and grateful for the Great United States of America.

An American Legion I frequented in the past celebrated Jane Fonda day every day. At the bottom of the urinals was a full color picture of Janie.
