I can get 200/200 for $40 a month. Would I expect speeds to be 1/3 to 1/2 of 200 like I am experiencing now? I’m debating if extra $25 a month is worth it?

Answering your first question which I don’t believe has been answered, no. Assuming you service is actually providing 400mbps which you need a wired connection to verify, then your WiFi is the bottleneck. By dropping your service to 200mbps you won’t see the max you currently see, 230mbps, but you should see between 180 and 200mbps on your devices.

Answering your second question, maybe or maybe not. It depends on how many devices are being used at the same time and what they are being used for. Again assuming your modem is actually getting 400mbps, that bandwidth is shared among your devices. If you only have one device and it’s only capable of 200mbps, then you are wasting your money. If you have ten devices, each capable of 200mbps and being used simultaneously, to stream 4K video, 400mbps might be worth it. Surfing the internet, then probably not.

I think it’s a limitation on the phone, not the service.

Might also be a limitation on the WiFi router. Might want to check the spec on that.

It's a router rated for Gigabit speeds.
