Business, Tuesday through Friday Noon. My lovely wife will be joining me Thursday about Noon. Already paid to go to the Grand 'Ol Opry House dinner/reception on Thursday night that is reserved as part of the business conference.

That leaves me Friday PM, all day Saturday, and through Noon on Sunday. Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. Please suggest places to go that we can actually make happen, my wife is (and me to lesser extent) a country music fan.

Thanks! Oh, and I'm going back to Nashville and the exact same conference center in September for a different business trip.

We were only in town for one night on our way to see the Total Solar Eclipse in 2017, but Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint was AWESOME!!!!

If I lived as close as you live to Nashville, I’d go with some frequency. Do Nashville stuff Wink

If you like cars the Lane Motor Museum is awesome in a quirky way. Not all Ferrari’s or muscle cars but some truly interesting and odd stuff. Just outside the city.

If you have time to do the Jack Daniels tour it really is first rate. It’s a drive to Lynchburg though.

Another little drive North into Kentucky will take you to the Corvette museum. This is also a great walk through.

Hattie B’s hot chicken is incredible. (Everybody has their favorites. Princes is pretty much the original and pepperfire is also great).

There is the ‘American Pickers’ location downtown. It’s a tourist trap but once in a great while Danielle will be there.

There is the Hermitage. Andrew Jackson’s home.

Those are a few ideas off the top of my head.

Enjoy, be safe.

See who's playing at the Ryman Theater while you're there.

Take a walk up and down Broadway and enjoy some great music of all flavors in the various bars. Robert's Western World is one of the more traditional.

Johnny Cash Museum

Country Music Hall of Fame Museum

Martin's does it right! There are some good hot chicken places, Pince's and Hattie B's, but they've become so touristy that the wait times are ridiculous.

there is the General Jackson showboat, which is right behind where you are staying. They have lunch or dinner cruises, country music show, food, and a ride up the Cumberland.

When we did it after the main show a couple of the band went on the top deck and played music and requests. It was a good time.

Built at a cost of $40k, The Parthenon in Centennial Park, in Nashville, is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. It was designed by Confederate veteran William Crawford Smith and built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition.

Yeah, it was nearly a perfect day. Drove up from Huntsville after seeing the Space & Rocket stuff, checked into the hotel, then walked to Martins. The wait was not too bad, maybe 45 min. My kids were hungry, the music and food were great. My picky daughter ate a 1/4 BBG chicken like it was manna from heaven.

Thanks. Keep them coming. I'll be on the showboat Wednesday night for the main conference reception, but no wife until Thursday.

No car, I'll have to Uber/Lyft/taxi.

I stand corrected--full scale it is. I have been there.

I was just there this week visiting inlaws. They live an hour+ southeast of Nashville. We did the national corvette museum and the Hermitage today because it was close to the airport. Allow a solid 2-3 hours to take it all in

It's been a couple of years, but I recall it was about $40 for all three.

If you are getting Hot Chicken, skip Hattie B's. That's tourist chicken. If you want to stay in Nashville proper, hit up Bolton's. If you want the best, and don't mind traveling a little further, hit Slow Burn or 400 Degrees.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
