There are several definitions of “shithole”, & Mexico meets every one. |

| If memory is correct this same thing happened the last time we visited San Diego circa 1995. And it was an ongoing problem before that.

They're actually right about this one. It crosses the border so the feds are the ones in a position to talk the Mexicans into doing something about it. This may also fall under the purview of the IBWC under some treaty provision. |

| Raw sewage or, just sewage of all types discharging from Mexico, making it's way to the beach of San Diego Co has been an on-going issue for decades. Beach closures due to bacteria and viral issues aren't uncommon. From two years ago https://www.sandiegouniontribu...-20170427-story.html quote: ... Imperial Beach, which stretches past the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge to the Mexican border, had portions of its shoreline off-limits to swimmers for more than a third of each year on average, according to county records. The seaside community had a total of nearly 1,600 official beach-closure days in the preceding decade.
...
In fact, more than 80 percent of all the beach-closure days in the county since 2006 have happened between Coronado and the Mexican border, data from the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health shows. ....
