We got an Ilife and it is amazing. My SIL researches the hell out of everything he buys. This was his recommendation and we are pleased with it

Thanks guys, I mentioned the Botvac & the wife went into research mode & decided on that one. She was going to look locally for one today.
All hardwood downstairs at the new house, with plans for 1 run in the living room.

P250UA%, tell you wife to get one of the Bed, Bath and Beyond 20% off coupons. They carry the Botvac, and at 20% off, it's a steal.

We have no carpet in our house, only wood floors and tile. We like our Roomba. We need to teach our cat to ride.

I got one little over a year ago because I was watching my fathers dog (lab mix mutt) and also have an Aussie shep myself. It was impossible to keep up with the shedding.

Roomba saved the day. Yes has a small bin but also grabs a ton of dander that's on the floor

I have a mix between, carpet, tile and wood floors. It has no problems on any of the surfaces

We have all hard wood floor and the Roomba does great. We run it every morning and the floor stay clean. Ours our three years old and not battery issues. You still have to get in the corners. We have one for upstairs that runs on carpet and it does a decent job. Don't expect deep cleaning and make sure your floor is free of smaller items. Items like socks, shoe laces, charging cords will jam the Roomba. The carpet one needs to be emptied every time it runs and you have to more maintenance on that one. Getting on the carpet strands from the roller. We did have the poop incident where our dog was sick and pooped and the Roomba ran over it. Thank god it was returning the dock so it the poop did not get spread around. Took the entire thing apart and cleaned it. Once one of ours dies we will be getting another one.
Costco normally stocks them at a cheaper price or keep an eye out on Amazon.

Our last dog destroyed the Roomba. She was deathly afraid of a regular vacuum cleaner but definitely not the Roomba. I think the current dog would also try to "kill" it.

How do they work on thick shag carpets? We have a shag area rug.

We have the Botvac with Wifi. When it's done it sends a report and map of what it cleaned. We do have to pick up all the small things and shoes before it runs. It also has magnetic strips that you can lay on the floor that keeps it from going where you don't want it to go. Our main floor is 1800 sq ft and it does it all on a single charge.

Range Report: Neato Botvac Connected

Covering the majority of our first floor, about 1,000 sq ft.
In Eco mode it gets it all in 1 pass without having to go 'home' to charge. Seems to be doing a good job. Once we figured out where it was getting stuck & made a few adjustments to furniture it gets through it all just fine.
We have all hardwood floors downstairs & a large area rug in the living room, no issues with the rug. It did give a message to clean the brush, as it had picked up some loose strings & needed them removed.

I've made it a habit to just empty the dust bin every morning before I leave for work. I think it could make 2 passes without it filling. But, we have a dog that sheds, so better to not fill it up I suppose.

Haven't tried the manual remote control yet, but having it scheduled to run every day at 2AM seems to be working well. No issues with the noise, doesn't wake up the kids & we've adjusted to tit as well. Having it in Eco mode helps, as it is noticeably louder (but not moreso than a traditional vacuum) in Turbo mode.

Definitely would recommend.

We just moved into a house with smooth hardwoods throughout the main floor and plan to get one of these soon, everybody we know in similar situations swear by it. I can't tell you how much I look forward to putting some eyes on ours when nobody is looking!

Empty nesters, no pets, no kids, no fringe rugs. No problems!

So, we're a month in & still happy with the Botvac. I have it running at 4AM, which has it done by the time I'm up for work.

A couple times it's gotten 'stuck' (twice it's claimed it was stuck while on its 'home' dock).
Downside there is being woken at 430AM by the vacuum chiming away that it's stuck.
I think we've got it about worked out now, had to reposition a few pieces of furniture.

Now just add a self-bugging device (e.g.: Alexa) and you're all set.

I'm gonna have to layer up my foil to get concerned about this one (the Roomba).

The latest Roombas like the 960 & 980 are great but I think it's cleaning capability can be done similarly by the Roomba 860, which is way cheaper. It does great with pet hair but i think the privacy issues its facing now is quite alarming.

we have one of the new ones at the shop, I cant stand the thing. it CONSTANTLY gets stuck on chair legs, carpets, doesnt go "home" to recharge. I think it's totally pointless.
