Thanks, giving it a try. I have the paid version of appy weather, powered by Dark Sky, and supposed to be a replacement for it, but it's not. I routinely get alerts that it's going to stop raining at such and such a time when it isn't even raining in the first place. I don't ever recall Dark Sky doing that. I just downloaded Dark Sky and got the “Next hour: no precipitation" while it’s actually raining. *shrug*

I've always said that I couldn't see how people think they can tell you what the weather will be in 20 years because they can't even tell you what the weather will be in 20 hours.

If it happened before the developer sold it to Apple, it wasn't often. So maybe Dark Sky is the issue, and not the app I'm using since it is powered by Dark Sky. The water in Washington won't clear up until we get the pigs out of the creek~Senator John Kennedy

I’ve used many of them. Fox News just released their own weather app and I downloaded yesterday. I like it a lot. It has a 3D on the radar that is very cool, too.

I’ve just requested a refund for Dark Sky. It didn’t meet with my expectations. The accuracy left me wanting. I’m going to try Wea-wow.

I tried the Weawow based on Bald's rec. I like it. So many options, colorful, and very customizable. You can link it to Dark Sky. I like this website (no app that I'm aware of) for aviation. The link is to where I fly out of in Chicago. It's gives quick at-a-glance graphics for VFR conditions. http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bi...Go&sta=KPWK&state=IL Year V

Thanks everyone. For starters I bought the Dark sky App and we’ll see how this goes. ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

Thank you for the feedback. It's always nice to know that a recommendation made in threads like this proves useful to some. Keep in mind that the end of 2022 will see the cessation of Dark Sky data for apps like this. Apparently Apple will be integrating Dark Sky into its iOS and killing it off for everything else. This message has been edited. Sons of bitches! This app has so many other choices of data to draw from. I'm glad for the thread. Every so often I Google for the best weather app. Much better feedback here. I deleted 1Weather for Weawow for now. Year V

I'm liking weawow so far as well. I'm not sure what data source I'll go with for this, or whatever weather app I happen to be using when Apple shuts down the dark Sky API after next year. The water in Washington won't clear up until we get the pigs out of the creek~Senator John Kennedy

Palwaukee? When I arrived in the Chicago area after a couple year project in Puerto Rico, I based at DuPage for a while, then moved to Midway where I was based until I was busted for alleged Air Piracy among other things (that's a True Story, for another time). This was back in the late 1960s. Our weather information was based on the old teletype stuff. I was instructing at an instrument school at Midway. Since we were teaching IFR stuff, we flew every day, barring convective weather or icing conditions. When the forecast called for possibility of icing, we would draw straws and one of the instructors would go up to see if there really was icing. True story about that: One of the instructors was a young guy, just back from Viet Nam, where he had flown medevac helicopters. Very likable guy, but a bit of a smart-ass. So one morning, he drew the straw for "ice patrol," took off with an IFR clearance, and began climbing, looking for ice. We did not have Mode C transponders back then, approach control needed to know where he was so they could handle some arrivals. We were listening to the radio in the instructors' coffee room when approach control told him "Seven Zero Alpha Tango, say your altitude." He replied, "Your altitude." Approach responded, "70AT, say 'cancel my IFR'." He replied, "Climbing through 4,000." This was the same instructor who would sit at the supervisory station and make airplane noises when he had a trainee in the simulator. If the student did not "switch tanks" in the simulator on a timely basis, he would make sounds like a sputtering engine, running out of fuel. This message has been edited. Yes, and funny story. I'm just a student--only about 20 hrs in. They changed the name to Chicago Executive Airport at some point. BTW, that usairnet.com link to Palwaukee can be changed to other airports. Year V

Thank you Very little |
Accuweather, haven't missed a hurricane yet, good coverage info on rain, since I ride in FL and if you do, you will get rained on, it's good to have knowing where it was, where it is and where they think it's going...
