Knows too little about too much |
and USAToday is firmly in their corner. https://www.usatoday.com/story...rs-column/570590002/ <SNIP> Ban assault weapons and buy them back. It might cost $15 billion, but we can afford it. Consider it an investment in our most important right, the right to live. Andrew Norris at gun-rights rally at Georgia state capitol Gary Jackson never stood a chance. Gary was 28 and working as a security guard at a taco truck in Oakland, Calif., in 2009 when he saw Dreshawn Lee carrying a sawed-off shotgun and reported it to police. Three months later, Lee took his revenge by shooting and killing Jackson with an AK-47-style semiautomatic assault rifle. I was the prosecutor who persuaded a jury to convict Lee and persuaded a judge to put him away for 65 years to life. But Gary’s autopsy report still haunts me. Trauma surgeons and coroners will tell you the high-velocity bullet fired from a military-style, semiautomatic assault weapon moves almost three times as fast as a 9mm handgun bullet, delivering far more energy. The bullets create cavities through the victim, wrecking a wider swath of tissue, organs and blood vessels. And a low-recoil weapon with a higher-capacity magazine means more of these deadlier bullets can be fired accurately and quickly without reloading. An assault weapon, then, is a hand-held weapon of war, capable of spraying a crowd with more lethal fire in seconds. TL Davis: “The Second Amendment is special, not because it protects guns, but because its violation signals a government with the intention to oppress its people…” Remember: After the first one, the rest are free.

Has anyone noticed yet that the Democrats in California have leaned so heavily on gun control proposals that there's nothing realistic left for them to promise in election campaigns? And yet they still keep pushing the button in lame attempts to distinguish themselves from their fellow California Democrats.

He’s not just suggesting a buyback. He’s suggesting taking them by force from those who don’t participate. The time is coming. We all better prepare to either fight or surrender. And if your plan is to bury yours in the backyard and claim a boating accident or some silly nonsense like that then I’d suggest that you just turn them in and at least get some cash because if you’ll never dig them up anyway. If you ever think it’s time to hide your guns then it’s time to use them. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Communists have been out of the closet for years, the only difference is now they're more open about their totalitarian nature and lying.

OK, I will let you buy back any firearms I may own, for maybe $100K each, IFF (which is if and only if), IFF you agree that no local, state or fed official, whether elected or appointed or hired, will ever be allowed to themselves be protected by any firearm. AND, IFF, the total cost of such comes out of the salaries of such gov't offiicals. Do you really think this program will reduce violence? If so, I have a bridge in Chappaquiddick I would like to sell you. (This is merely one more instance of "guns for me but not for thee".) "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944

Good post. The buyouts never work out for these assholes anyway. People turn in their junk, take the buyout money and buy something better. If they are honest, what they want is confiscation. Molon Labe, buddy... Molon Labe! "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

God, I'm so ecstatic that I left that shithole commie state. SO many of these type of CA Commie threads lately "I’m not going to read Time Magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines; I mean, because they have too much to lose by printing the truth"- Bob Dylan, 1965

God help me, I detest politicians. Pretty much all of them, regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum. I spit on them. Ez “To the last, I grapple with thee; From Hell's heart, I stab at thee; For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee” - Herman Melville -

I only caught part of it, so I'm not sure if he was the same guy. But some guy from California was on Tucker Carlson's show this evening, repeating the lies about buying guns on the internet or at gun shows to bypass background checks. He didn't seem unintelligent or ignorant - just flat out lied.

He wasn't the guy quoted above, but the guy above is how Tucker lead into the segment. "Some things are apparent. So the government failed to lock up a guy with an illegal weapon and that's the fault of law-abiding gun owners? Any bets as to whether or not the killer was legally able to own a firearm period or that he legally obtained the weapon used in the murder? What's that they always tell us? "Nobody wants to take your guns away".
