JimineerMy friends, I think I need some help.
I can relate to what you are going through. Went through that for years.
Are you salaried? If so ask to be paid overtime. If they won’t pay overtime I would assume it must not be that important to them so cut back to no more than casual overtime - like a few hours per week.

83v45magnaThere's so much good advice here, I can't possibly mention anything not already covered.
Once again SF has made me proud.

irreverentWhen you talk to your boss, make certain you have a follow up scheduled a few weeks later to be sure you’re both on the same page as far as your needs being met.
We lost a great employee that had a meeting with us similar to this- we thought we met his needs based on what he shared with us, and he never said any different after the meeting, but turns out he hadn’t been completely up front about what he wanted vs what he needed, never mind the personal stuff that we were unaware of and therefore unable to help with.
So. Be brutally honest and straightforward. If you’ve been there 14 years, clearly there is something you valued there.
And I’ve no doubt they value you tremendously. It’s really been a tough couple of years for all businesses, and a lot are just trying to scrape by until they break even and build again. Remind them of your value, give them a chance to correct and I’m sure they’ll come through.

Rey HRHI don’t think it’s the age. It’s the work environment. Been there, done that. The good news for you is, as others have said, it’s a job seeker’s market right now.
A vacation isn’t going to work. You’ll just take your job with you on vacation.

captain127From my perspective jobs right now are a dime a dozen, your health and sanity is one per customer.
Get a different job.
Sounds like you have stuck it out far too long.
Also whatever work you are doing and organization has to have some perspective- do people die if you don’t get work done?
I have what I call the 4 D rule-
Death disability detention and destitution
If what I do or don’t do does not result in someone needing a hospital bed jail cell coffin or bankruptcy lawyer then it isn’t critical.
I do on a near daily basis deal with things as a health care professional where hospital beds or coffins are options if I don’t get things right and I pay attention to those, and let The other stuff fly by

oldbill123It's bad management. Wife had a boss like that. Everything was a priority and every task must be perfect. When a health issue arose, she was kicked to the curb. She only had 10 years in though.
