Must have been difficult, intercepting an anchored ship. Seriously though, three questions come to mind.

1. Is it possible to determine where any oil in its tanks came from?

2. If it is Russian, do these sanctions carry any weight of law regarding consequences for their violation?

3. Just to play devil's advocate, how does transporting crude oil constitute a "serious offense against French and European Security"?

Apparently, some of these Russian Shadow Fleet vessels have been dragging their anchors in the Baltic Sea, disrupting fiber optic lines and such.

Oil can be identified, as to source. (Unless something has really changed.)
