In case anyone needed a reminder; it is amazing what 2 hours can do for your well being.
It is hard to have a bad day when it starts out like this.

Looks like a hell of a good way to start the day. It's been entirely too long since I've been on the water.

This post reminds me of the lecture I gave my granddaughter a while back. She asked me what I was going to do that day and I told her I was headed out to enjoy the playground that God had provided to me - until such time that he decided to turn out my lights and close my playground forever. She replied that I was just being morbid!

I explained to her that the playground was an adult one, with all the possibilities of scrapes, bruises, broken bones and even death. The thought that it would eventually be closed made it all the more important to enjoy it while I could. Scarcity of time makes each minute a precious gift - Being immortal sounds dull and lacking in motivational inspiration.

I could sit and dwell on all the negatives that could happen, be depressed that it was going to soon end, and refuse to play anymore. I just choose to enjoy the heck out of it until the lights go out! It is kinda like watching a beautiful sunset - I know it can't last very long, but I still sit and marvel every inspiring minute that it remains.

Wife has been at less than 100% since catching Kung flu, we’ve both been working our asses off.

But we’re healthy, no debt, 22 years together in August, the garden is doing quite well so far and the latest update on the MiL’s breast cancer is as positive as can be. So I decided to take a couple hours to enjoy the view and a cigar.

Enjoy the oases that you come across in your life.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

After search high and low for a simple stereo AM/FM ,digital tuner radio with battery and ac cord, I finally gave up, very disappointed.

A month later I helped a gal out for an afternoon.

Over lunch we talked awhile, she said she had the radio I was looking for.

I had doubts about the cheap plastic thing, it had a c.d. and cassette player that I didn't need.and it was an analog tuner.

After twenty minutes I was pretty impressed with the sound and decided I liked it.

I got some nice Audio Technica headphone and now just plain old pleaded as punch.

I looked for it on line it hasn't been made for 17 years.
But similar models today run around $85.00 Eek

Way more than I had planned on spending.

Grateful as grateful can be I offered her some money for it, she wouldn't take it.

Since retiring Jan 1, my life has greatly changed for the better. Taking time to smell the roses and enjoy the simple pleasures.

I swear it has been an epiphany, rebirth, and recharge all in one.

More active in the Church than I’ve ever been, volunteering at weekly food giveaway, cold weather shelter, and running the audio booth during services.

Taught a cooking class, first time ever doing such a thing. Way outside my comfort zone, but it went great and I really enjoyed it.

Pursuing my photography hobby and getting back to the great outdoors doing photo walks and bicycling. Hoping to get a camping trip in for the first time in probably 20 or more years.

I’ve got a wonderful wife and dog who love me. Life is good!

And yes, nothing like driving topless!

So much to be thankful for!
