V-TailI usually start the conversation by asking, "What are you wearing?"

Couldn't be. Why would I want to scam myself?

Yes you do. It is unconscious. You utilize various defense mechanisms. Ask your spouse.

fpuhanIn addition to all the above, I sometimes get spammer calls from Russia.
My Virginia area code is 703. The dialing country code for Russia is 7. These spammers add an 03 to the "number" they are ostensibly calling from, hoping the recipient (me) will merely see the 703 prefix and pick up the call.
For starters, I don't answer calls I don't know, and in addition, my phone clearly identifies it as "Russia" calling.
You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

k5blazerAfter I called myself eight times in one day I blocked my number. It stopped. No one else got calls from me.

Should probably answer if there is a next time.
My first thought. You probably had some lottery ticket #'s to tell yourself.

I know everyone doesn’t have the time of the inclination, but I like to answer and just waste their time.
Every minute they are on the phone with me is another minute they are not bothering my nearly 80 year old, mostly shut in mother.
Sometimes it’s a long story about how, as a Jerry Lee Lewis impersonator, I wound up as a burn victim.
Or I’ll just launch into my collard green recipe.
One fella finally gave me a good cursing after I just repeated “NUMBAH PLEASE” every time he started to talk.
The last few times I’ve acted genuinely concerned about their mental health, what with all the rejection they have to deal with in their job.
A couple of them I’ve actually wound up having a real conversation.
Still doesn’t make me think and more highly of them.
Well done! I like to mess with them too. Apologies to any Indian or Pakastani members we might have, but I can do a fair imitation of their accent. You should here some of the replies I get when I ask if "mom" is there and what should I name the carry-out I just brought for her. Or I've found your underwear out in the goat pasture; send me an address to mail them back. My imagination and no social filters are the only limits I have.

2BobTannerI had that happen to me ... once. Turned out it was the Wife and I didn’t answer as the “spousal selective hearing” app was active; and that’s when the fight started.

YooperSigsI too have begun to answer a few. Mainly the endless "we want to reduce your student loan debt" one and "we want to sell you an extended car warranty" one. I try to keep them on the line as much as possible. I tried to get them to extend the warranty on a Chevy Vega. They claimed to not know what a Vega was.
And all of these calls come from the local area code and exchanges.

When I get bored with sexually harassing them, I politically harass them. How 1947 was a mistake. And they were better off under the British. Etc.

saigonsmugglerHaha I too answered and string them along when I feel a tad bored. I also noticed that by answering and waste their time, I ended up with less calls.. maybe they do talk to one another - this one is a real beeeesch.

SigSACI've had a few in the last few weeks. They all started with the ATT chimes from the commercial followed by a voice telling me that my account had been compromised and to verify information.
I disconnected at that point.
