Consider small business bookkeeping. Only takes a computer and Quicken/Quickbooks. These can be learned a most adult education venues. Many small businesses struggle finding bookkeeping services. CPAs are generally overkill and can do the clients taxes off your computer books. As a retired commercial banker, many of my clients sought this service. Get bonded and insured. Storefront is not a big issue for them. They did check to make sure I had my state and city licenses. Their concern was more that I was in it for profit and not just to increase my collection. They wanted to know my proposed business hours but acknowledged that those may change once you start selling. Just doing transfers can make it worth your while depending on customer reach. I'm an accountant and I agree with mcrimm. This would be a good area to pursue. I was once looking for a service like this for a small not-for-profit I was trying to help out and I was surprise how little I could find. Most places providing this were overkill their needs. As mcrimm states you can find classes on this at many adult continuing education programs or community colleges. Check with your local scholl system to see if they offer any classes on this. Many will over evening classes (night school) that is tailored to people running their own small business and need to understand bookkeeping. For more money, you can find a community college that offers certificate programs. You may even find a selection of online courses. I would envision doing things like running payroll, sending invoices, calling customers to follow-up on unpaid invoices, writing checks or preparing a payment file to pay vendors, monitoring cash flow and issuing 1099's to vendors at the end of the year.

Coding is demanding...have to pass a long, detailed test to become certified. My organization does allow those who have passed it and have the CPC certification to code from home at the moment. I don’t know for sure what’s coming down the pike, though. New software systems are going to be having the doctor dictate and enter the charges themselves from what I hear. Not sure how that will affect coders now. However, they won’t allow anybody else to work from home doing this, even though many things could be accomplished from home.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Good luck with that. I doubt the hospital will get maximum reimbursement that way.

I work for DFAS. I don't have a degree. I'm allowed to work from home 4 days a week. Look into that if there's a fed agency in your area.

This is not true. I got my license in 2012. My nephew in law got his 2 years ago. Both are home based.

Not correct here either. The ATF couldn’t care less if you’re Cabelas or work from your study. It’s local zoning laws that hang up lots of people. "Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway." Steve McQueen...

I called Frontier yesterday and the lady who answered must have been at home as I could hear a baby crying in the background.
