Perkinsville Road from Jerome to Williams
Thanks for the tip. I'll find time to do that this summer. Are they gravel fire roads mostly? Like around the Mogollon Rim?
For the first few miles south of Williams, it is old asphalt, and then the remainder of the trip transitions to gravel / packed dirt mostly. Not what I would consider a technical 4x4 trail, but just your standard unimproved national forest roads.

BytesGreat choice. Love the color.

amalsI lubs me some Toyota trucks; I've had two (they tend to last a long time). My newer one is a '96 Tacoma. Your next stop should be tacomaworld forum; kinda like the SigForum of Toyota trucks. Camelback Toyota is well-regarded there; I'm not surprised you were happy with your purchase from them.

the full four-door model on the same chassis. Or do they have the same wheelbase in other words.
People seem to love them or not so much. Not much in between on the Tacoma.
I would be curious what the weight comparison is between the Gen 1 Tundra and the current Tacoma. They seem to be similar in size so I'm thinking they are similar in weight. The 3.5 V6 versus the 4.7 liter V8 on a similar size truck seems a bit odd to me.
It weighs in at approx 5600 lbs.
power is sufficient, especially when you press the transmission power button. Like sport mode in other cars. Works well. Not sure what the 4.7 put out, but this gives up about 278 hp and 265 lb-ft torque. It’s definitely not a slouch.
It’s about the size of the Gen 1 Tundra, just a little smaller. Not by much.
Yes, access cab and redneck limo are the same chassis. Little bed in the redneck limo.

I took her to Jerome, about 4 miles from my house. We started down Perkinsville road. The first turn past the Gold King Mine, she asked me to turn around. Too scary. Imminent death on the side of the roads (cliff like drop offs).
If we go to Prescott, it’s not over Mingus. We take the long way around, down I-17 and highway 169.
It’s okay though, there are plenty of other places she loves to go. As long as imminent death isn’t on the roadside. lol

John SteedYou will love it. I bought mine new over six years ago and think it should be good for another ten.

WoodmanApache Trail to Roosevelt Dam is a decent drive. Closed right now due to the Woodbury Fire, but wait until November. It'll be nice. The drive out to Horseshoe Reservoir for a picnic will be deserted, and is scenic in a plain desert manner. Both of these are closer to the East Valley, though.

NavyGuyGreat choice. I'm on my third Tacoma, a 2019 TRD OR Cement color and love it. That Quicksand color is pretty easy to keep clean and will turn heads. You'll be surprised at how many "nice truck" comments you'll get from perfect strangers.
Check in at Tacomaworld.com forum where you can learn just about anything you need to know about Tacomas.

Thanks!my wife loves the color and I was good with it because it’s a low maintenance color. Dirt won’t show up too easily, and scratches will be the same.
I’ll have to check out the Tacoma forums. Thanks!

Ryanp225I've had my 2018 TRD off road model for a year and a half now and I absolutely love it. You have chosen well.

ElToroI have a 17 inferno double cab off road manual trans. Only thing that drives me nuts is on 17 Toyota didn’t put pegs on the passenger side to hold down the floor mats or in my case the husky liners. Always scoots forward and crap gets under the liner
Would also prefer to see a bit more power from this engine. We also have a 2013 4Runner with the 4.0 which was the same engine in the previous gen taco and the power curve is way more smooth. Otherwise no major complaints

jjkroll32Nothing like a good ol' fashioned honest moderately equipped 4x4 truck.
I should get my butt in gear and finally pull the trigger.

DCFD4I had a 95 and I'm still in my 08. I pretty much just change the brakes and oil and buy new tires.... Can't go wrong with one.
