So when we moved to AZ, my wife and I bought a Polaris Razor. She’s not a fan of the hot, dusty, open air ride. It’s also not the most comfortable.
So we have been looking at trucks. Toyota was at the top of the list. I made some calls and dealt with a couple of good guys at Camelback Toyota that made the deal happen. We traded in a Leased Subaru Forester. We were quite happy as we got payoff for it, and being a year into a three year lease, that’s pretty good.
They discounted the Tacoma quite well. We are very pleased with our purchase. It’ll get us out to a lot if the place we would go on the Razor, with a little more comfort.
It’s nothing too special, we didn’t want a four door, so we chose the access cab. My wife loves the desert sand color. It’s four wheel drive, and has the 3.5 V6. Aside of that it doesn’t have a bunch of options, but I feel incredibly blessed to be able to have this.

Anyways, on with some pics...

Good looking rig. I like the color too. Had to read the fine print; first thought it was white, reflecting that fine Arizona sunset.

I'll be at that Subaru dealer in August, looking into having a TPMS or four swapped out. House sitting in the land of the perfect enchilada-style burrito.

Congrats! I’ve been enjoying a 2017 Tacoma SR5 4x4 for almost a year and a half now myself. Love that tan color of yours.

Congrats! They are great trucks. I've been tempted myself lately. I like the old fashioned, non metallic colors they are now offering, like your desert tan. They have a medium blue that really appeals. Wonder if the non metallic color offerings are a new trend or simply cheaper to apply?

Congrats, is the access cab and
the full four-door model on the same chassis. Or do they have the same wheelbase in other words.
People seem to love them or not so much. Not much in between on the Tacoma.

I would be curious what the weight comparison is between the Gen 1 Tundra and the current Tacoma. They seem to be similar in size so I'm thinking they are similar in weight. The 3.5 V6 versus the 4.7 liter V8 on a similar size truck seems a bit odd to me.

I believe that they are on the same chassis, with the crew cab having a shorter bed length.

Great looking truck! The Perkinsville Road from Jerome to Williams is beautiful. As well as the Schnebly Hill Road out of Sedona. I did both in a 4Runner with ease, and it’s a beautiful trip.

Thanks for the tip. I'll find time to do that this summer. Are they gravel fire roads mostly? Like around the Mogollon Rim?

My best friend won't make it but a solo trip of remembrance is the next best thing. She lived near there, and we drove the other way to Williams (89A) October 2016. There is decent free camping west of Flagstaff past the arboretum; good place to R&R between jaunts.

Nice! I'll probably be getting one in the next 6-12 months. When I first saw it in person, I didn't like the "Quicksand" color, but it's growing on me. I'm not the only one who's said that either. I'll probably get the 4 door TRD Off-Road package.

I had one back in '97. It went anywhere!
