Prescribed Effient rather than Plavix, supposedly will be on that for 6 months to keep the stent happy.

Woke up after my catch lab visit, the cardiologist said “Your heart is fine. I don’t want to see you for 20 years.”

Recovery nurse commented, “That happened to me. Turned out, I just hated my job then.”

Not a major health threat... but an attitude adjustment.

And glad to hear you are on the mend.

Glad you got ahead of the problem 2000Z-71. It is quite an experience.

I took the same Versed/Fentanyl ride last October and had a stent placed in the left descending artery. As a former Anatomy and Physiology instructor, I found it fascinating to watch the progress of the catheter on the big screen while conversing with the doctors and nurses all the while.

Yep, being ahead of the curve helps...

I stayed away from Doctors for 40 years.. then my life changed just over a year ago.

You know things will be different when they bust you through the doors at the ER and in the hall a guy with the world's sharpest scissors cuts all your cloths off in 20 seconds and then they proceed to shave you in all kinds of places and stick all kinds of things on you and in you in all kinds of places....

I have to admit that's the most uncomfortable thing right now, the Wasilliean (Combination of Wasilla the white trash capital of Alaska and Brazilian) trim I received. They went in through my wrist but prepped my groin in case they has to go to plan B if there were complications. I have to say, razor burn and stubble sucks.

I'm glad they (you!) caught this in time and you're on the mend. I hope you're back to 100% soon!!!

Let me just add my relief that you are on the mend.
We hope to get up to AK this summer and hope I don’t get to see you (at work!)

Glad to hear your outcome, and relate the experience from your point of view. I had the same thing happen almost 2yrs now, a roto-rooter valve job and stent. Seemed so routine it reminded me of taking the car in for an oil change...with the exception of the shave down there Smile

I was prescribed Metoprolol and low dose aspirin for a couple years, almost 2yrs now and hopefully finished with the course of meds.

Anyways good to hear you're ok, and that you have a healthy recovery. I did reevaluate a lot of food choices with larger amounts of sodium and will continue to evaluate choices as time moves forward. Stay well!

Gotta tell ya’; I was expecting a different kind of ER story.

Glad things worked out for you. Had A-Fib ablation last year and they knocked me out. Funny how you were able to watch your procedure - thought they’d knock you out also.
