Earlier today, a video was posted which looked for all the world like commentary from Victor Davis Hanson; it was not.

It was AI-generated slop. I won't link to the video, which would defeat my purpose in deleting it, nor will I identify the channel which published it, but there is a disclaimer which is posted underneath that video, and it tells you everything you need to know:

This part: "Our aim is to amplify the original message by making it easier to understand for the end consumer..."

...is unadulterated HORSE SHIT. It's not enough for these thieves to use without permission the persona of someone with unquestionable integrity as Hanson for profit; no, they have to insult the intelligence of their unfortunate viewers by implying that they are slow, and gullible enough to believe their ridiculous excuse for generating and publishing this excrement.

Things of this low nature should never appear on the pages of this forum. "Our channel’s content is based on facts, rumors, and fiction."

AI generated videos are all over YouTube. There are getting better and better too. Good warning. If I do post or link something I’ll be sure to check it for authenticity.

I think all AI generated videos need to have a big AI watermarked in the middle of the video.
I wish there was a way to just filter out AI content.

Thanks for this. I've been watching some investment related content on Youtube recently. I particularly like the Buffet/Munger videos and their advice. I've been seeing a TON of them in my feed. The first few fooled me. Charlie Munger died in 2023 or there about. Yet, there are tons of videos talking about Charlie's wisdom for 2025, 2026, etc...

I usually watch the videos on my phone, so I don't look at the descriptions. I'm on my home PC and went searching for those videos. All of them have that warning you described... "Altered or Synthetic Content"

Now I know what to look for.

California has a law requiring all things containing AI to have a warning on them, under Proposition 65.

There are several channels which have been exploiting Hanson's content of late.

The first one I noticed had apparently altered his speed of delivery. Hanson's usual deliberative, somewhat slow and considered delivery had been speeded up to where the usual pauses were essentially eliminated and the result was just short of a staccato delivery similar to that of Ben Shapiro.

This, right here. Machines are tools to make our lives easier, to free us from the mundane and tedious tasks, allowing us to do those fun creative tasks, allowing us more time to learn and become better. Instead, people are having the machines make their entertainment, relying on the machines to supply their deep thoughts. It's fucking trash, and everybody pushing for it needs to have their nutsacks slammed in a car door.

There's a simple fix for that...Uninstall it from your life! Honestly, I can't fathom why ANYONE would be part of it!

Initially, it was said the computers in a home would be the downfall of society. And then cell phones became that, followed by social media. But the biggest granddaddy of them all is AI.

I have in the past contacted my congress critters that there should be a law that requires any AI generated media have an indelible notification plainly posted that the subject is AI. There are going to be many that will be bilked of savings and even worse if this continues. Perhaps PDJT should do an executive order to this effect immediately and get the House and Senate motivated to make it law.
