Too old of a Cat, to be licked by a Kitten |
I've been away for a while, mostly recovering from shoulder surgery and a somewhat self-exile from social media. Seems the department has been monitoring social media of all prospective retirees, hence the lack of being on. As for retirement, it's now official and it was one hell of a ride, but I'm out in one piece or somewhat intact considering all of the duty related surgeries I had to endure. I feel as if the stress has vacated my body to the point that I actually sleep better. I currently have no plans other than maybe a small part time job to keep myself busy. The job offers did come quickly as I guess that certain skill sets are in high demand, but many of them were full time and I respectfully declined. I'm going to take it day by day for now. I will look back fondly at my career as I was often referred by my former co-workers as "Da real Poleece". I don't feel a sense of loss of authority like some have said I might, but a sense of accomplishment and pride as a retired CPD officer. Now it's on to the next phase of life and where that takes me, I have no idea but I'm sure it'll be great. The Working Police..... Congrats! I retired at age 70. Right for me. I had no idea of retirement until a couple of months before 70, but then I was sure of my decision. It now amazes me how I got stuff done while I was working. Serious about crackers

Congratulations! Making it to the end is an accomplishment. Making it with at least 51% of your original parts and 100% of your pension is an INCREDIBLE accomplishment. Best wishes for many years to enjoy it.

Retirement is great. I retired in May of 2016 and very much enjoy retirement especially since I was blessed to retire early. The key to a successful retirement is finding ways to keep busy mentally and physically. I have no desire to work, not even part time so my days consist of going to the gym 4-5 days a week, Im involved with several ministries at my church, I travel and I keep busy with projects around the house. Its a blessing to make it to retirement, retirement with enough money to live comfortably, and its a huge blessing to retire and be in good health so you can enjoy retirement.
