The sooner P&G fires whoever thought this was a good idea and begins to move toward making amends with its customer base, the better, but it may be politically stuck now. Walking back their stance may cause them a lot of trouble with the SJW community who know how to raise a mob.

The public today is a lot smarter with how things operate in and around corporations, perhaps it'll be the communications director or, project manager that'll be scapegoated. The reality is, it should be a handful of officers who approved of that disaster in their quest to chase the 'woke' agenda and be apart of the zeitgeist in shaming half of the country. It's was their approval, that allowed a divisive ad to characterize their company as anti-male. Meanwhile, director Kim Gerhrig and 'Somesuch' walk away with a nice paycheck, justified in their positions having left their mark.

I'm having a hard finding a source for Dorco replacement cartridges from my usual online shopping sites (Amazon has but fulfilled only, not sold by). I actually (ironically) couldn't even find Dorco when I went to Korea.

That being said, I don't care what Gillette does now. I'm never going back.

I switched razors immediately upon learning of Gillette's idiotic, leftist propaganda and won't ever buy another of their products. I tried Dorco and wasn't happy with their blades. If those blades cut people less than Harry's, I can only imagine how bad H's blade angle is.

My wife on a whim, bless her heart, picked up some disposable Bic tri-blade razors for me and I've been pretty content with their performance.

F U Gillete!

Dorco is discontinuing direct sales from their website soon. Let me see if I can find the thread I started...

Found it. Posted this 2-JUL:

Just got an e-mail. Seems they're shutting down their website effective 31-AUG, but they will still sell on Amazon...

quote:
After 7 years of selling you awesome razors at a great price, we will be shutting down DorcoUSA.com. We will officially be shutting down the site on August 31, 2019, and will be running a closeout sale on DorcoUSA.com until then. Free shipping will be offered on orders over $25 — stock up on all of your favorites!

There were many factors that led to this decision, but don’t worry – after August 31st, you’ll still be able to get Dorco razors online on Amazon!

Thank you again for being an awesome Dorco customer!

I did the Barbasol thing and like it.
The replacement blades seem to last longer than my Gillette Mach 3 ones did.

The Barbasol has more blades in the cartridge than the Mach 3 does so it did require some getting used to.

Now I really like it.
Plus it is a closer shave.

Yea. And also I prefer to buy directly from Amazon. I try to avoid buying on Amazon that are just fulfilled/shipped by Amazon but sold by some third party unless I'm familiar with that third party.

The first set of Dorco was sold and shipped by Amazon. Now I'm only finding shipped by Amazon (sold by third party). I might be forced to do that eventually when I run out, but hope to avoid. I hope when the Dorco website closes, that Amazon will become a sold & ship vendor for Dorco.

Nice. That's the direction I'm looking to go, with barbasol.

I still haven't used all of my old Gillette razors yet though, so I haven't bought a a new razor since this whole thing started.

Having 4 or 5 blades means the cartridge is wider up and down than the Mach 3 so it isn't quite as nimble.

That said, I have adjusted to it now and it's fine, just a couple of changes to my method in a couple of places and everything is fine.

One thing is very different. When I used to accidentally drop the Mach 3 in the shower, the blade always came of the handle.
So far, the Barbasol has not separated when I drop it.

Best thing is:
After 50 years, goodbye Gillette.
It was stupid of you all to offend this customer.

Bye Gillette.

Agree - I got the Dorco 6+ and liked everything except the 6 blade configuration. After adjusting my method (mostly under the nose), it's fine and gives a great shave. I like it much better than the Mach 3 now.

I need to thank Gillette for waking me up to a better but cheaper shave.

I'm hoping that Costco will start to stock Dorco instead of Gillette soon.

I think the Barbasol razors are actually rebranded Dorco razors. I think I read that somewhere while doing internet searches on razors.

I went with the Schick Hydro 5 to replace my Fusion. It's every bit as good as the old razor.

I haven't shaved in years.

With the money I saved I bought an AR pistol.

Way more fun than a razor.

Gillette's "men are bad, and white men are the worst" commercials pissed me off and I'm careful to not buy anything they sell.

If you really want to stick it to 'em, here are P&G's other brands. (At least in the U.S.)

As for DE blades, this article from 2010.

I think the Gillette Silver Blue blades should be on that list too, but it's my favorite DE blade, so I'll probably keep buying them and cut some other P&G brands from my life. Wink That works, right?

FWIW, guys, Harry’s went SJW ‘tarded first and then backed off it when they saw Gillette follow suit:

https://twitchy.com/gregp-3534...tion-of-masculinity/

quote:
Harry’s Razors deleted an old tweet from 2017 celebrating “International Men’s Day” that told men “IT’S TIME FOR A NEW DEFINITION OF MASCULINITY.” Text of the deleted tweet here:

Today is International Men’s Day. Believe it or not, that’s a thing.
Now more than ever, being a man demands introspection, humility, and optimism. To get to a better tomorrow, we need to take a look at today, and at the misguided stereotypes that got us here in the first place.

More at the link.

I’ll be holding a DE blade karma with multiple winners soon for those willing to step away from cartridge razors. I have sampler packs I’m probably never going to mess with that are milder than the Feathers I’ve come to love, and since I just got a 200 pack of those, I can let the rest walk. May even offer up a ‘48-‘50 Gillette SuperSpeed if there’s enough interest.

Buy the plastic Wilkinson Sword Classic razor off Amazon for $7 or $8. Buy Dorco Prime, or Wilkinson Sword made in Germany DE razor blades. The Israeli Crystal are also good.

I prefer the safety razor with DE blades over those multi blade cartridges. Give it a try!

P&G has nothing for me. Smile
