This afternoon's email brings me an offer from Groupon: "Get $5 off personalized NFL razors with Gillette on Demand, and save $5 when you subscribe now."

I had to laugh.

God bless America.

So what do you guys think of Barbasol razors? When I finally exhaust my remaining supply of Gillette razors, I'm thinking of giving the barbasol brand a try. I love their shaving cream.

I've been wondering what I'll switch to when the time comes. Assuming Schick, but open to other suggestions.

I have been using Dorco for ages. If you like Mach 3s, try their Pace 3s. LOL

I started using the Dorco 6+; the angle is different and it doesn't pivot the same as the Mach 3. But it seems to shave close and comfortably. Feels solid. Which is probably not a surprise given how much attention Korean men seem to pay to their skin and appearance.

I think once I get used to it, it'll be fine. It's just different shaving a few places right now - like area under the nose.

I'm wondering if the Pace 3 will feel more familiar for me.

In any case, I'm off Gillette.

So no one has used Barbasol razors? Well, I guess I'll give them a try anyway and let y'all know. I think they are made in the USA. At least their awesome shaving cream is.

I did the same. At least you got a response. I bought the Schick Hydro 5. They seem to be pretty good.

If you do it, let us know what you think. I have a Mach 3, and a few blades left. I'm going to use them till they are gone, but I won't buy anything more from them and will be looking for a new razor and blades.

I switched to Shick and they seem like an upgrade over the Gillette.

I just bought some of the Schick blades tonight. Will let you know how they work. I've been using the MachIII since they came out. Bastards.

I am going to do a little preaching:

Brothers, now is the time to switch to the beloved double blade safety razor! Shave like a man again! Shave like your old man did, if you are old enough to see him shaving with his DE safety razor. I gave up on those multi head monstrosities over two years ago and I couldn't be happier!! I enjoy shaving now and even do it on my days off. No more razor burn since switching. I bought a 100 blade pack of Persona blades two years ago and I am still working on going through it...Oh yeah those 100 blades were $12.75 ( Amazon Persona DE Safety Blades ).

Here is a review of cartridge vs. DE:

My 3 month check in since I switched from Gillette Fusion to Schick Hydro. Very pleased with the switch and I truly like Schick Better.

I switched to dollar shave club about two months ago. Absolutely love it. Don’t really even care what the price is, it shows up at my door.... I never have to go and buy Gillette again which was always a hassle because they were always in a goofy plastic lockbox and a pain in the ass to jubuy. Screw Gillette :-)

Best thing I’ve ever done in shaving is to go back to using a double edge razor. I can’t recommend it enough over cartridge razor shaving. Like night and day..

Not to be confused with a vintage Barbasol DE razor (Floating Head), which is quite a good DE razor, comparable to a Gillette Tech (but averaging around $100 in good condition right now on FleaBay). The multi-blade disposable modern version probably shaves just like a modern Schick or Gillette, for which see previous video.
