Wife and I are taking a long weekend trip to Charleston SC next month. Are there any must sees/ eats? I know we have reservations at some place called Husk. We are also going to do an architectural carriage ride. We will not have a vehicle so everything will be Uber or on foot.

Two of the classic Charleston dishes are shrimp and grits and she-crab soup.

I haven't spent a lot of time there, but I really like what I have seen of Charleston.

Might want to swing by the shops at the 'Historic Charleston City Market'

The Charleston Tea plantation was worth a visit. (Edit: just saw that you don't have a car, so don't bother. We thought it was a nice detour to visit on our way down to Savannah).

We paid for a Charleston Walking tour, which was also really nice. We spent a fair bit of time just wandering the Charleston City market and the historic center after the tour.

We ate dinner at Magnolias, an upscale southern kitchen. That was highly recommended.

We also had dinner at FIG. It was a difficult restaurant to get reservations for, the food was good, but it was reminiscent of any other high end restaurant serving new american food.

Had lunch at Spero's on our drive out (it's on the edge of the city, so only bother if you have a car).

Jeni's Icecream was also good.

Not sure if Uber will take you, but you'll spend hours here. Go as deep into the Yorktown as they'll let you.

I’d recommend The Hominy Grill for a place to eat. Also do not leave without getting a good SC Slaw Dog or anything with pimento cheese in or on it!

The old market in the city was pretty cool.

I wanted to go see the Hunley exhibit when there but didn’t get a chance, I’d heard it was worth it.

Take a harbor cruise or one of the night time haunted harbor cruises. There is Fort Sumter to visit. There is also a Palmetto State Armory just outside of town. Also check out the North Charleston Fire Museum.

You should enjoy Husk. Leyla (Lebanese) is downtown and very good. Just make sure to place a reservation. For a casual meal, try out Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ place. Finger licking good. Patriot's Point, Fort Sumter, and the Hunley are all great to see. An evening walk along the Battery and Rainbow Row to work off dinner is also fun.

Definitely visit the Yorktown. It's very cool. Also try to spend some time on the water, at least a water taxi ride or something. Head out to Sumter.

Just wander around... the whole place is lovely. The Market is cool and there is great shopping on King Street. The houses down around The Battery is gorgeous.

Husk is fantastic. Magnolia's is great. I also recommend High Cotton and most of all, The Ordinary. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, eat at any chain restaurants while you're there. There is just way too much great food in the city to waste time eating at some crappy chain. Take a look at Yelp or Trip Advisor for other recs... 167 Raw, Charleston Grill, Chez Nous, Leon's, McCrady's, etc. etc. etc.

There is also a lot of good night life farther north on King St around The Ordinary (north of Marion Square.)

You've inspired me to get back over there ASAP.

A Burger at Poe’s Tavern and one of the many ghost tours were my favorites.

Good suggestions so far. You can easily kill a day walking around downtown. Do be aware, however, that there are no public restrooms south of Broad Street, so plan accordingly, lest you find yourself peeing in one of the bushes in the Battery, which is frowned upon.

Try a ghost tour if you like a good story. Bulldog Tours is the best operator for that, IMHO.

All of the historic plantations, the aforementioned Charleston Tea Plantation, and the Angel Oak would require driving, unfortunately.

You can, however, catch an Uber ride to see the Hunley. They have a nice museum, but seeing the boat in person alone is worth it IMO.

Take your Wife to 84 Queen for dinner, then a carriage ride around the City. Learn about the hurricane bolts, among other things. I lived in Mt. Pleasant for two years. Never got tired of downtown Charleston. Enjoy your visit.

last time I was there (Hunley Crew Funeral) Hyman's was ok but touristy,
Jestine's was delicious, (Coca Cola cake is yummy)

we had a good mean on the porch (back) at a place called Poogans' Porch,

another great seafood meal at a dive not far from patriot's point called the Wreck of the Richard and Charlene,

the Coconut cake at one of the hotels is notable too, as in it has been written up in several magazines over the years,

I cannot remember the hotel, but it is near the farmers market

My wife and I just spent a solid week out there a few months ago and it was the best vacation I have ever been on! We saw, did and ate just about everything the town had to offer! Below are a few of our favorites...

Restaurants:
S.N.O.B (Slightly North of Broad)
The Ordinary (FAN FREAKING TASTIC...get oyster sliders) <<<<<Go to The Ordinary!<<<<<
Minero reasonable priced and gourmet mexican food, great spot for lunch!(same chef that started Husk started this!)
Husk....go there.
High Cotton...amazing
Magnolias, good.
Heard good things about FIG, but we didn't make it there.

Biggest Restaurant disappointment:
Hominy Grill.....was a horrible wait and the food was a C+ at best.

Things to do:
Walking Tours! They are an awesome way to learn the city.
You HAVE to go to the Calhoun Mansion and do a tour....Seriously, you NEED to see it.
Fort Sumpter and Yorktown if you want to see awesome military history.
The Market...off market street. Tons of little display tables and shops there.
HighWire Distillery....kinda simple tour but I like Bourbon so it was fun for me.
Middleton Plantation...quite spectacular especially this time of year.

Man, we did so much....I know I'm forgetting stuff, but those right there are absolute winners. You'll be able to hear the best history, see the best views and eat the best food doing the above. Have fun!!

We stayed at The Vendue downtown and literally walked everywhere except to the airport and Yorktown. Uber or Lyft will take you anywhere fast. We also rented a car through Turo (Mercedes SLK55 AMG for $100) and took that to Middleton Plantation and a few other spots.

Page's Okra Grill, voted #1 for Southern Comfort food. And it is CHEAP!

Just across the bridge in Mt. Pleasant. But there will be at least a 30 minute wait to sit, and they don't take reservations. Still well worth it.

Ft. Sumpter, Yorktown and ships nearby. Depends how much of that stuff your wife will like.
I ate at Hymans and several other seafood places that I don't remember the name of but never had a bad meal.
