They recently opened a Habit Burger near my work and daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn are they good!

They've become my favorite burger of all the quick-serve burger joints around here like Shake Shack, Five Guys, Wayback, Steak N Shake, etc.

What sets them apart from the rest are the caramelized (and not raw) onions they put on the burger, plus they actually seem to SEASON the patties as they hit the grill, with some kind of S&P or seasoned salt mixture.

Their fries and onion rings are just OK, I do think Five Guys has the better fries but they do have these tempura green beans as a side, with ranch for dipping that are surprisingly quite good!

Anyone have one near them? They are out of California and this is the first one I've ever seen of them.

The "Double Char" has become my go-to:

First time I had one was in Visalia, Ca, in the old Mearle's Drive-In. Mearle's was a drive in from the movie American Graffiti. It tasted great and became a go-to burger for me, but it ain't Whataburger! Just the nostalgia of Mearle's made the burgers taste better.

They send me a coupon for a free burger a few times a year so I eat there a few times a year. They're decent. Certainly better than the fast food guys but not close to the mom and pops.

Where are they located? Pretty sure you and I work very close to each other.

I have exactly the opposite opinion. I've eaten at Habit Burger twice since they opened in my area, and I will not go back.

To me, they are a poor man's Burger King, without the taste or the variety.

Maybe I'm spoiled. I have at least half a dozen "craft burger" joints within roughly the same distance and at roughly the same prices.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

We are lucky to have the Habit 1/2 mile from my house. Like it there. Wish they served beer.

Thanks- didn't realize that's where it was. I'm just down the road near the casino.

That Santa Barbara looks good. Their regular burgers look like In 'N' Out burgers with sesame buns instead of plain. I'll have to check it out.

Never heard of them.
Looked them up, and nearest one is about 700 miles away. That explains it.

There are a number of local places that make theirs look like dog food though, so I don't mind.

We rarely eat "fast food" but having tried Habit we'll go there if in the area. An alternative for me is Five Guys, not a fan of In and Out.

Building one right up the street from work. I'll give them a try. Cookout is the best value of the casual dining burger spots I've been to.

We have a few here in town but unfortunately none are near me. I'll definitely try them if I'm ever across town.

Apples and oranges.

If you read my OP, I was comparing them to similar fast casual burger places like Shake Shack and Five Guys. Of course you and I can find local places that are better but it’s not the same category you’re comparing then.

Their Golden Fried Chicken burger is not too shabby, either. Hmmm, now I think I have to have one today....
