No surprise to me. That "medical care" fiasco has not worked in a very long time. Like the one in Canada, where the people needing prompt medical care for serious issues come to the states. Or did back when I had family members needing medical care for serious problems. They went to Canada to get their meds. Met a lot of Canadians coming to the states to get competent medical care here. Socialized health care in the UK should have been able to work out the kinks by now. It started shortly after World War Two. One interesting fact is that all prescription drugs are FREE for everyone over age 65. Of course the government approves the drugs it will pay for. For example the drugs to treat Alzheimer's are not included since research indicates they do not produce long term results. In other words, in five years time the group that received these drugs still end up in Nursing homes. No difference from the group that does not receive any drugs. I do not see that sort of thing going over here in the States. | |||

Canada is no better. I had a co-worker up there who was waiting for thyroid surgery to remove a cancerous node. She’d been put off 6 months before they finally did the surgery. It was “day surgery” at that. As soon as she was able to stand and walk, she was dismissed from the hospital. And that was 18 years ago.
