The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) uncovered a $59 million FEMA payment from just last week to house illegal aliens in “luxury hotels in New York City,” Elon Musk announced Monday.

The payment comes after the Biden administration had claimed FEMA was not using funds to support illegal aliens. “It’s just categorically false. It is not true,” former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters in October.

Republicans argued FEMA did not have enough money in the fall to help victims of the hurricane in North Carolina, but President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security claimed those reports were “completely false” and noted the agency had enough money to fund relief efforts and the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which the Biden administration authorized in late 2022 to respond to the migrant crisis.

Musk, who is leading the DOGE initiative to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, said the FEMA payment violated the law and a “clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds”:

Hopefully the money is returned to the treasury and the culprit who released the funds is fired.

The USG is full of pigeonholes stuffed with our cash, used by bureaucrats to feather their own nests and favor their friends/personal causes.

One pigeonhole dedicated to hurricane relief may have been short, but the one for illegals must still have had some small change rattling around.

Drain the swamp, great first step....what to do with the alligators???

FEMA is a disaster. We could save a fortune by just having four talking heads who do press conferences (embroidered shirts, serious looks, pre-prepared notes, a check list of talking points) and stay out of the way.

The flood response in NC has been Americans pitching in to help Americans. FEMA should be embarrassed to even show up there.

Whether through ignorance, uncaring or just plain malice, most if not all of those rooms are probably trashed. The hotels should give FEMA that bill.

Much of this housing illegals in hotels in sanctuary cities is about money.

The Roosevelt hotel in NYC is owned by the Pakistani Airline. PIA made a deal to house illegals in it's 1200 room hotel in exchange for the government funding.

They are giving Pakistan money through moving FEMA money through the housing illegals program.. Imagine there are many political allies that are also getting paid.. Probably by PIA...

No doubt billions of US taxpayer dollars are housing illegals in sanctuary cities and it's a method to launder money through government programs.
