The invasion of Panama started on December 20th 1989. Is there anyone else here who was in OJC? I was in the Marines with BSSG 6. We were out of Panama before the official invasion started, I was there for a lot of the pre work

My BIL jumped in with the 1st Ranger Bn in "Operation Just Cause". One of the airfields. Luckily he was uninjured during the operation.

I went to Panama in April 1991 as my ARNG unit rotated into "Operation Fuertos Caminos", IMHO a "win the hearts and minds" campaign, to show the local Panamanians that we (the USA) weren't greedy colonialists or evil imperialists. We were a Combat Engineer unit, and built several bridges in the Nombre de Dios area in northeastern Panama. 90% of the Panamanians that I dealt with personally were glad to see us.

I PCS'd to FT. Ord right when the 4/17 Light Infantry got back from Panama, they lost a few there
