2006 BMW 530I. Got 80K out of last set of Michelin AS3 that was warrantied for 60K. Snow is only minor consideration since I have a 4WD Silverado for snow here in Kansas City area.

We has AS3+ on our Ford Flex & had a coworker with them on her Mercedes C300.
Loved them in all situations I put them in. No snow experience with them, other than a brief flurry in Flagstaff enroute from Vegas > Houston.

It seems that the Crossclimate is more of an SUV and family sedan tire and OK but a bit out of place for a sporty sedan.

Yeah, the AS_ is listed as a UHP All-Season.
My buddy's C8 Vette has them on it as well.

It's a UHP All Season vs Grand Touring All Season. The AS4 is also the only one available in Run Flat if that matters.

If you've got a backup for snow, then don't bother with the Crossclimate as it gives up dry/wet handling for better snow/ice.

It's certainly a better performing tire in all weather conditions, but as you said it's not really made for sporty cars.

I'm running the crossclimate for the first time on our all wheel drive Mazda 9. I live in a rural area and see a full mix of concrete, asphalt, gravel, and dirt/mud driving surfaces combined with all weather conditions. One of my personal requirements on all of my vehicles is that my tires are snow/ice rated.

We haven't seen much of that weather yet, but they seem to do quite well in both wet and dry conditions so far.

Not according to the reviews on tirerack which show that it outperforms the pilot sport in both categories, 34 million miles worth of reporting.

Those are user reports that don't cross over their respective categories. For a level comparison, you have to find the Tire Rack Testing reports and hope they use the same vehicle in both tests.

This is the only report I've found testing both tires, but it was a snow test only. The face that the AS4 can hang with the Crossclimate 2 is impressive.

I've run the Cross Climates on two cars and they've done very well. Great all season traction and good tread life. Maybe a hint more noise, but not enough for me to give it a second thought.

On a 330i I think either would do very well. On my 550 I went UHP AS and ran DWS06's in the winter here in STL. Not a lot of heavy snow but lots of slick wet days.

I have Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus on my BMW. Cheaper than Michelins and a higher rating on Tire Rack. They are great tires.

1gkek: Don't recall which they were, but myself & a coworker both despised the OE Contis on both of our Mercedes C300
But, they were a runflat that wore extremely quickly [on the wear bars in 16k miles]

The non-RFT Michelin AS3+ on hers & Bridgestone RE980AS on mine were a massive improvement.

Sadly for me, my current Mini is on 16s, so the tire options aren't that great for a HP/UHP All-Season.

I'm on the second set of the Continental DWS06 tires on my 2017 Impala Premier and have found they work great in the wet, slushy, and snowy weather we get in southwest Michigan. They also improved the handling steering response greatly.
Concur that they are great tires.

Have the Pilot Sport AS3 on my 2001 Corvette and am happy with those though it doesn't get driven in the winter.

I run DWS06+. Prior to that DWS06, and prior to that DWS. I overinflate them about 1-2 PSI. Phenomenal in the rain. I’ve been running them on my AWD turbos since 2008, so 17 years now.
I doubt you’d get 80k out of a set, I know I wouldn’t, but to me they are best all season tire if performance is what you are looking for.

80k?! You must really baby the hell out of your tires!

I've never gotten 80k out of any tires, despite regular rotations and going what I'd consider easy on them, even ones warrantied for 80k like Michelin Defenders.

I wouldn't blame Continental for your experience. Unless you're in a sports car that costs over $100K and has tires made for them, all OEM tires from every maker wobbles between sucks and blows.

This video explains it better:

True, and I know that the OE tires are typically not as good as their equivalent replacements.
Mine was a CPO, so they weren't the OE new tires, but likely the OE recommended replacements for the CPO.

Poking around for the Mini, there's only 3-4 options for a UHP AS tire. Kumho [which I also have on my Midget] looks to be one of the better, with a Toyo & Sumitomo being the other options.

Just ditched the shitty 19" Kumho's that came on our new Audi Q5, installed a set of 20" BBS SX with Michi PS AS4 that are great! Not as good as the Nokian Hakkas on our X3 in snow and ice, but what is?

The AS3+ I had on my '18 bmw worked great and lasted a long time. My '19 bmw x2 m35i had the AS4 and I rotated them regularly and didn't use them in the winter (have dedicated snow setup). They barely made it to 30k miles with 22 months of use.

I generally get 40-50k out of any set of tires.

Crossclimate2 will last longer and do much better in the cold/snow. They are noisier, but I just turn the radio up.

I also get rid of my runflats as fast as I can and replace them with goflats. My '19 is actually my first bmw that i put together a temporary spare and scissor jack for. all my others, i just toss a plug kit and compressor in the car.

Not minority enough!
