Sorry to hear the Salvation Army caved to the P.C. Smowflacks. Have given to them my whole working years and continued up to now. That's that - SA done lost my bucks (doubt they care or will miss it).

Looks like the local groups will be the ones that benefit from SA's bone head play to be PC.

I detested the forced giving to United Way at my old place. Even the directed giving was a joke.

Just a quick story and apologies for the thread drift:

During my time in the army, I was inundated with requests to give X amount of dollars or make a monthly allotment each year during the United Way drive. I always said that charity starts at home and explained that lower enlisted folks didn't really make enough to pester, but sure as shit, ol' SGT Randolph would come around and piss and moan because everyone has donated except me. He said it would look really good if he got 100% participation. Told the guy to pound sand. Later one afternoon, he comes in asking me to donate again. Dude, seriously, take a fucking hint. He wouldn't have it, so he said "look man, I'll give you the $5 to donate" hands me a crisp $5 bill. I took it, went straight to the vending machine, stuck it in and got a candy bar and a soda. Grabbed the change, stuck it in my pocket and took off. The look on his idiotic face was one of the funniest things I recall seeing.

Given how conservative the folks at the SA are, that I know, and how good they are about keeping admin costs down...

I'd want to see something a bit more explicit about why it was cancelled.

Smow
Single Mother On Welfare... Usually young single mothers supported by the hard work of taxpayers. They smoke swear and yell at their children..

Smow's can usually be found pushing their strollers on their way to the welfare office and are often seen visiting their incarcerated boyfriends at your local detention centre's ..

One can't, with a straight face, talk about conferences at Mar-Lago and keeping costs down, at the same time. Whether it's 10% of their budget or .01%, they cannot, honestly, coexist.
