Looking over my history going back to 2001.
I originally used Amazon just for books and CD's.
Bought a few in 2001 then no more than 4 orders per year until 2014 and several years in between with no orders.
So years 2001 ~ 2014 I averaged less than 2 per years.
THEN I guess I hooked up with Amazon Prime somewhere along the line.
2015 - 13 orders
2016 - 38 orders
2017 - 50 orders
2018 - 85 orders
2019 - 119 orders an still 2 days left. Frown

I think I need a New Years Resolution to watch it more. Eek

Anyone else notice how many times you use Amazon?
No wonder the stock is through the roof.

Order history shows 4 in 1999. 132 in 2019, plus 38 Digital orders on separate tab. Pretty much a straight line up in between!

First step to acknowledging you may have a problem is getting a book about it from Amazon. Be right back! Razz

I figured out how to do those counts - cool function.

As suspected, my counts have been coming down over the years. I'm probably at 60% of my high volume now.

I hate buying PRC shit. Especially no-name brands. And especially from no-name distributor.

If it ain't made outside of PRC, with a name brand company shipped from Amazon, I don't buy it (unless shipped from another known company that I would buy from). So my trend is definitely downward and will probably continue as such. Prime to me now is more about cutting the cord than for shopping.

After we signed up for Prime our Amazon order volume increased exponentially. But, lately, I've become disenamoured with Amazon. Three reasons: 1. Amazon Logistics. They've bungled three orders within recent history. 2. Cusomer service isn't what it used to be. 3. They're "Walmarting" all the local businesses.

So I've cut my shopping at Amazon way back w/in the last few months. To the point of sometimes paying a bit more, locally, rather than buying from Amazon.

I'm actually down a little. 82 vs. 105 in 2018

Temporary glitch, I'm sure. Living 60+ miles from anything resembling a mall makes Amazon Prime a no-brainer.

I HAVE been double-checking other e-stores rather than just ordering from Amazon. It's becoming increasingly common for things to be cheaper elsewhere even with shipping, and with everybody charging state sales tax, that break no longer applies.

I didn't check the actual numbers but I know that I'm ordering more from them than ever. I'm a lazy old fart and love the convenience of ordering what we need from my Lazy Boy, especially during the NW winters.

136 orders in 2019 for me.

I would like to see some serious competition for Amazon. As someone noted they are becoming like Walmart. I can also note that Sears was all powerful at one time.

Amazon is becoming more like EBay in that you have to look at seller, not trust reviews, etc.

That’s because your brain doesn’t register the pain of spending your hard earned money when you buy online. The quicker they can make the transition the more you will spend and the more often you will come back. Amazon is the master at this.

Studies have been done to show what financial transaction registers the most pain.
From most pain to least pain is listed below.

Cash
Debit Card
Credit Card
Phone/Computer

Already started cutting back.
Lowest total of amazon orders in 5 years. If I cut in 1/2 in coming year, as is the minimum goal, will be lowest in a decade

My wife had her credit card compromised a few weeks ago, and the bank shut it down.

After 2 days, Amazon started calling the house asking if she was OK. In the evenings, the delivery drivers would gather, at the end of the drive, they’d bring flowers, light candles and sing hymns.

First order in 2002, mostly books through 2014, with some kids toys / gift cards.

Then a slow ramp up in 2015 with household goods and then subscribe and save in 2016.

425+ orders this year, including all household cleaning products, dog food / toys / supplies, paper products, and school stuff for kids. In fact the large majority of stuff are things we'd buy at the store, but it's great not to have to schlep to Sams / Costco / you name it for 50# bags of dog food, cases of TP, etc. Lots of time and gas saved.

Up to 15% off subscribe & save items plus 5% back on their card. No more we are out of dog food / trash bags / TP / etc on a weekend evening.

If I don’t need it immediately I find it quite convenient to shop on line, have it delivered to my door for free, without the hassle of driving somewhere to see if they have it in stock, then having to go to a second location to see if they have it in stock. So yes I have increased my Amazon usage. But then I hate shopping in crowds fighting traffic and just going to the stores to browse, and to price shop. I need a list to go off of, what’s not on the list is not bought.

Of course.

Amazon has gone the way of many monopolies: They keep acquiring or putting out of business the competition. And not just in sales, but in logistics, computing, and more.

Like I mentioned in another thread, I couldn't find EEZOX on any of the gun-related sites I visit, but sure enough, Amazon had it.
