I'm pretty sure with today's tech they can see not only how many people watch a given event but exactly when and how long. Would be awesome for millions to tune in to her performance and then promptly change the channel.

“I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things, and they are police violence and injustice,” she wrote in part. “It is unfortunate that our National Anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the National Anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone. I am here today and on Sunday, Feb. 3 to give the Anthem back its voice, to stand for that historic choice of words, the way it unites us when we hear it and to free it from the same prejudices and struggles I have fought long and hard for all my life, from walking back hallways, from marching with our social leaders, from using my voice for good — I have been in the forefront of this battle longer than most of those voicing their opinions to win the right to sing our country’s Anthem on a stage as large as the Super Bowl LIII.”

Still don't care about the Super Bowl, but this is a nice respite from all the negative and fake news.

Hell, I'd listen to her sing the ABC's... She should do a wonderful job with the anthem.

I watched all the Cowboy games, and listen to sports radio every morning, and I don't recall seeing/hearing anything about anthem protests this year. If they happened, maybe the league and TV networks had sense enough to make sure the cameras didn't show them.

Have nothing against Ms. Knight, but will not be watching her do the superbowl. Have not watched any part of the NFL circle-jerk since we left Maryland for upstate NY in 1977. Don't plan on starting now.

The players & NFL are the ones injecting their politice & their SJW bullshit.

If they just played a game, none of this would have happened.

Refusing to come out for the National Anthem is not good enough for me & many people. The NFL should have upheld their rules, & common decency, & never let their employees piss off a majority of their fan base, all based on some bullshit. They’ve made their bed, they can lie in it.

With a handle like “PD”, I assume you are in law enforcement. I will also assume that you are not a racist, working in a systematically racist department, that murders innocent black kids every day. The NFL players & admin doesn’t agree with me, they think that you a racist, your whole department is racist, & that y’all murder black folks as much as you can get away with. I can’t believe that anyone in LE would ever support their bullshit.

On a separate note, as good as Mrs Knight may be, I’m betting some SJW fag will screw up her performance. That’s my SB bet.

Normally, I'd agree with this sentiment, but I don't think SF injected politics into the NFL.

Jesus Christ. If you’re not watching the game, why the hell do you need to post that you’re not watching the game???

It’s like me going into the watch thread and posting how I don’t wear a watch.

As to be expected. She believes in what the national anthem stand for which says a lot for her. Plus she is in a position not to worry about what this will do to her career, and can tell all the haters to fuck off.

I don’t understand how conservatives can continue to give their money over to anti-American assholes who bitch & complain about a non-problem. They are using your money against you & your beliefs.

Some of the nicest people I know are people who I have nothing in common with politically, economically, or spiritually. Because they are not like me does not make them my enemy. I’m speaking personally. Not some azz’ole we saw on the news or some celebrity/politician I’ll never meet. Just everyday people. Hell, you would think those sitting at VFW bar are all like-minded individuals but that’s not the case. Everyone has an opinion. We’re all entitled to one. Do I think I’m right? I do but I’m not going to get into an arguement over it. Might I avoid talking to someone who wants to inject politics into every conversation. Probably.

My acquaintances and businesses I interact with on a daily basis cover a wide spectrum of society. If I restricted my life to surrounding myself with people just like me, I would die a lonely bastard.

If Jesus Christ, Himself, were appearing at the superbowl, I would wait to hear what He had to say after, in some venue not associated with the NFL.

The star concluded her statement saying she hopes the confusion of the two messages can blend into one lesson of unity for America, which she hopes to kickstart when she sings the anthem at the Super Bowl.

Expecting to click on a thread when the subject line is about the National Anthem and NFL and expecting to not see any political postings is a bit moronic, is it not?

The original posters text indicates that Ms. Knight’s reasoning for singing at the Super Bowl, is political.
Does it not?

The NFL, National Anthem is a political subject whether you wish it to be or not.

I thank Ms. Knight for stepping up to try and change this.
